Loved him professionally, but like nothing about him personally. I'm passing on his podcast I likewise respect Cornette's knowledge of the history and inner working of pro wrestling, but he seems to have absolutely no practical knowledge of much beyond that. Of course, that doesn't stop him from ranting on like he's an expert. He came off like such an ignorant jackass when he guested on the MLW podcast that I avoid his personal podcast at all costs.

And he proved with ROH that he is incapable of providing an even remotely watchable product.

And he proved with ROH that he is incapable of providing an even remotely watchable product. The matches themselves were more than watchable. I can go back through the first year or so of the ROH show (which Cornette was the dude in charge for) and find a ton of great matches and that's what ROH has pretty much always been. Wrestling first, angles second.

Wrestling first, angles second. This is what I always wrote about ROH in their first year on Sinclair stations: the matches were overwhelmingly of the "watchable" variety, and if someone just watched for good matches then there was nothing wrong with the show at all. As far as Jericho's podcast goes, I'm not sure what Chris Jericho has to say that I'd want to hear on a regular basis. I'm about to download the first episode. I highly doubt his show will go into the regular weekly rotation of "must hear" stuff (and I listen to A LOT of podcasts), but I'll give it a try.

Honestly, ROH is still pretty rad as far as having good matches every week. My biggest problem is how a lot of guys (Elgin being one of them) don't seem to put forth the efforts they were at the beginning of the year.
re: Jericho's podcast - I really don't know what he has to say that couldn't have just been covered on the Steve Austin Show.

My biggest problem is how a lot of guys (Elgin being one of them) don't seem to put forth the efforts they were at the beginning of the year. Well yeah, the match quality is still overall very good and now for the most part they actually have a coherent story behind why they're in the ring. Elgin's problem to me seems to be one of trying to be all things to all people. He wants to be a power wrestler, a technician, a high spot guy, a bump taker, etc. He should just stick to what got him over to begin with. I just got done listening. It's pretty much a continuation of the conversation they had on the Steve Austin show, only with the roles reversed and Jericho asking the questions. In fact, next week is part two with Austin. He makes it worth listening and will pad Jericho's numbers for the first couple of shows. After that we'll see if Jericho has the steam to keep it going on his own.

Cornette - while there's no doubt he has issues, one of the biggest is that no talent wife of his that thinks Cornettes tirades are adorable (see his TNA letter)
Jericho - the guy is a pop culture sponge and his show is going to be all over the radar on pop culture. It may disappoint some fans, but I love him talking about that stuff

Cornette had little to do with the actual match quality though. Remember he thought wrestling as MMA was a good idea.
That Shoot where he went through his wrestling collect with Bobby Heenan was awesome. He needs to talk about shit he loves and has a passion for. He's great as a historian.
