Serious question here.
Pretty boring in the ring and his recent string of matches have been weak even by his standards. He's never really been over minus some spurts here and there. His character is pretty meh. He's also failed at least 4 times on top. I've been thinking over all the WWE Champions, not World Champions, and I'm having a hard time thinking of anyone that was worse. There was Sid but Sid was over as fuck. He got a mega pop for killing Jose Lothario. Stan Stasiak sucked but he only had the belt for like a week. I guess the Miz would be the answer?

Swagger was worse that Miz by far... also Khali. I certainly don't love Orton, but he's not the worst they could do.

I'm not really a fan, but neutral on him being a champ. However, I never want to see him as a face because there's absolutely nothing likable about him

maddog pulling Stan Stasiak out of nowhere! I've seen pictures of Stasiak, I've probably seen a match clip or two on youtube or something, but I have no frame of reference for Stan Stasiak because that's way before my time. What I DO know about him is that he was a transitional champion, never meant to be the long term top guy. In that regard I am hard pressed to find a WWF/E champion as seemingly bad as Orton. Miz may be tied with him, but Miz was just annoying to me; Orton makes me twice as likely NOT to watch their shows. What makes Orton worse to me is the WWE insistence that he is a "top guy" and should be treated like a big deal when looking at it objectively there are probably far more negatives about him in that role than positives (subjectively and in an opinionated way I can't think of any positives).

You know, can anyone make a case for Orton being "good for business" as the face of the WWE or the top guy? Here are a few of the strikes against him
- The Marines were so against him being the star of "The Marine 2" because of his history as a military deserter that he had to be replaced in the role. - He has a well documented history of misogyny, so severe that one WWE diva quit specifically stating that his actions led to the decision. - He's on his third strike on the WWE wellness policy, actually already technically having acquired the fatal third strike even though one was stricken from his record.
If anyone wants to chip in any positives to having him on top (or add any negatives), please feel free.

The photoshop of him giving the RKO to a hotel television after he trashed that hotel room is the most entertaining thing ever attached to him.

Don't forget that Mark Henry drew better as World Champion on Smackdown than Orton did. The ratings bump was almost instant.

Should a one week transitional champ count? I think a guy should have the chance to prove themselves. A guy like Stasiak, it was already written, so hr never had a shot

I didn't count those guys because they were never meant to have the company built around them. They just existed to trade the belt between Sammartino and Morales.
