I love Morton but this really shows the dire situation in the NWA these days. He has no business holding a championship like that.

I haven't heard the NWA mentioned since NWA Hollywood left them... is it just NWA Anarchy now?

I haven't heard the NWA mentioned since NWA Hollywood left them... is it just NWA Anarchy now? I believe NWA Anarchy is no longer with the NWA and is now called Anarchy Wrestling. I follow NWA Southern Allstar Wrestling (which I really enjoy on YouTube) and Ricky Morton wrestles in NWA Smoky Mountain...

There is a loose conglomerates of lesser promotions still using the NWA name these days, but it's a shell of its former self. They allegedly have an affiliate here in Illinois, but I have no idea when and where they run shows and I only recognize one name on their top ten (via the NWA website). They did have an NWA world title match on the last big NJPW show and Rob Conway lost to Kojima, so all is not lost for them yet because that is a big deal.
Ricky Morton as junior champ? Well, I've seen worse and that's all I have to say about that.

I guess there's an NWA promotion in Ohio that I've never heard of. I looked up their website and I've literally heard of none of their wrestlers. And I actually know a lot of the local guys that work in the area. It's just sad.
The NWA is pathetic. They were relevant again after over a decade thanks to TNA and they blew that up. Then, after ruining the TNA thing, they slowly start to build something with NWA Hollywood and Adam Pearce as the champ. They were getting some buzz with Pearce//Cabana at the top but can't have Hollywood getting too much press. Now they're trying to run with the absolute dregs of the wrestling world.

The NWA currently has around 25 territories 10 of which are in Texas. The only one I'm familar with is NWA Smoky Mountain which seems to be a decent promotion

The only ones out of those that I knew existed were Next Level, Old School and Branded Outlaw Wrestling. BOW mostly because it's the home promotion for Jax Dane.

I think Morton is just going to be a transitional champion....at least, I hope so. It should one of those deals where Morton finally gets that World 'singles' title that he's craved for so long. I thought they made a mistake when they took the belt off Jason Kincaid. I don't know much about the Texas feds in the NWA but I do follow Smoky Mountain regularly.
