The Outlaws backup up Punk... yeah, that's awesome I think that was the first time we got the REAL NAO intro in the PG era, too... though I don't know what it says about the current product that that was the biggest pop of the night (at least that I saw...)

Jake The Snake Roberts. Pay attention to that sense of timing, kids. The guy did literally nothing but get in the ring and got a reaction from what I read was a dead ass crowd all night.
As much as I like the fact that Jake closed out the show it is sad they have to go "old school" to try to get people interested heading into whatever this big announcement coming Wednesday is (Network). Imagine the Attitude Era if they had to go old school to make fans watch----wait, all of their old school guys were in WCW at the time. How about Stone Cold making way for Don Muraco to come in and give the reverse piledriver to Kane to end RAW? No? Then maybe they should rethink why their current guys just aren't enough to pull people in and start booking to get people over, not under (Daniel Bryan-Wyatt, anyone?)

I really love the details of the old school RAWs. From the ropes to the refs outfits to the guardrails. Great stuff.
Would have liked to see Jake give Ambrose a DDT.

Would have liked to see Jake give Ambrose a DDT. That seems to be a popular opinion. As nice as it would be for fans to get that moment, it would have been the wrong thing to do. Ambrose is a big time player in the WWE right now, and Roberts is not. It would end up tarnishing Ambrose's star if Roberts got physical with him, and there's no payoff because Roberts isn't getting back into the ring to wrestle Ambrose later. If there was a ringside character like a commentator or announcer he could have done that to it would have been best. Also, sometimes what you DON'T get is better than what you do: even though he's in vastly better condition than recent years, Roberts' body isn't what it once was and I don't think that DDT would have looked like the one the fans remember. I think they handled Jake's appearance the best way possible.

That's actually a really good point... kinda sad. I think it's the booking more than the talent, though. They messed up Ziggler, Miz, Caesaro, I'm sure they'll mess up Big E. I think Jake was especially cool since he was together enough to make the appearance, after all his issues.

Well Miz and Ziggler really didn't have anything that would keep them at the top for any real length of time. They blew it big time on Cesaro and honestly, if Big E. Langston fell down some steps and could never work again, it certainly wouldn't break my heart.

It's not a lack of talented guys. Perfect example: Sheamus. Regardless of opinion, that was a guy who was over and had moneymaking potential and they did everything to water him down and make him worth nothing to the company to the point where people don't even talk about him anymore. From big Irish badass to bland face to forgotten name.
And now they've got Daniel Bryan dressed like a Mexicool.
Big E will be just fine until he fails on his own because he's Cena's workout partner and networking and connections seem more important than talent in the WWE right now.

I assume Sheamus is returning for the Rumble... didn't he blow out his ACL or something? I agree it's odd they haven't mentioned him for so long. I think Miz could have been a top heel if they let him be his annoying self instead of saddling him with a terrible catch phase and trying to fit him into the mold of others (first Piper, then Flair). At this point, the ship has probably sailed, though. Ziggler is great at taking bumps, and is decent on the mic, they just never let him talk himself.
