Seriously, I'm so sick of the "YEAH BUT CHIKARA ARE GREAT BECAUSE THEY DREW THIS ANGLE OUT". There's a difference between a well drawn out angle that's kept interesting and the fucking stupidity that this whole angle has been.

I would be more forgiving if this was because of the divorce rumors than a thought out angle.

I really think this "angle" was Chikara making the best of a bad situation. Bad situation being they ran out of money waiting on whatever deal they seem to now have in place. Excellence promotion is a Chikara revival, just using some of the same guys. Full-on Chikara comeback is coming soon.

Agreed... that angle could have been epically awesome, but it would have needed to resolve months ago...I can't imagine even many of the hard core fans are still sticking around.

Whatever led to this. I think they've set themselves back 5 years with this move. They had a ton of forward momentum going and they've destroyed all of it.

I can't figure out why for the life of me, but they are. Too bad Chikara killed pretty much any hype the rest of the wrestling world had for them by doing this.

What else where they going to do? Just shut down and be forgotten entirely? I'm telling you, they did not voluntarily run a story where the end result is the company is shut down for the better part of a year. This is just the way they're keeping the hardcore fans involved until they can get funded to run again.
If Mike Quackenbush wasn't so tight lipped about everything dealing with the ouside kayfabe realm of Chikara then people wouldn't have to speculate so much. I mean, the guy won't even publicly admit he runs the company! On his own podcast he calls it "the company with which I have been most affiliated" or something like that. So when something like this happens all people can do is try to connect dots and follow rumors. There's keeping the fans behind the curtain, and then there's just being silly about it. I respect what he's trying to do to some extent, but Quackenbush does kayfabe to the point of being harmful to his own business sometimes.

Like I said. I don't think it was intentional. I think things like the divorce rumors or money issues drove things more than anything. But I also think they lost a ton of fans over this. My interest has really waned.
Mike kayfabes heavily but in an issue like a divorce he wouldn't be allowed to say hey I closed the company down so it can't be divided up in the divorce proceedings. He probably felt an angle was the best approach. I think it probably would have been better to just tell fans that Chikara has to go away for awhile but they'll be back.

There's a lot of silliness that appeals to a certain type of fan that has gone on with the company right before and after the last show, and a sort of detective story going on for people who are into that LARPing thing, and that's intimidating to the casual fan. HOWEVER, all you have to do is invest about two minutes a week on those official storyline videos they put out and you're not missing a thing leading up to the obvious return of the company in whatever form it takes. Plus, many of the videos have been pretty good in my opinion.

Yeah but there hasn't been a show to watch. All that online stuff is great but you need shows to build that stuff around. For me, I don't think to go hunting for all the Tweets and little hints out there. I don't operate with entertainment that way. If I don't have it under my nose, I move on.
