This is the answer to what I thought was the long ago buried "what's wrong with" thread that has made its comeback in the past 24 hours. Filsinger Games has had some misses, and I've been on the negativity parade plenty of times myself over the years, but it's given some of us almost 28 years of game playing through COTG, and well over a decade with Legends. In that time Filsinger and company has given us playing cards for ANDRE, RANDY SAVAGE, THE ROAD WARRIORS, and RODDY PIPER. Then there's Chikara, ROH, and all of the other independent companies they've partnered with.
So come up with something positive to say today and add what you're appreciative for on a day that's not in November. That's too easy, that "I'm thankful for" crap in Novemeber, or the "I hate this" the other 364 days of the year; this takes some thought.

I had that one nitpick with them. But 2013 was easily the best product year they ever had. Randy Savage and Roddy Piper and then they followed that up with AJ Styles in 2014.

I've met some good friends through the game. Hung out with Mark Ashby last week and it was so good to see him again. Werner is always great to be around and I hang with Darren (Nitro) all the time in LA. Zeke is probably the person I see most and he's always great to chill out with. (Shane and Chris too but I don't get to see them as much.) So that's something positive I can say.

I think if you are interested in LOW/Real Wrestlers this has been a great year for FG. I wish that I was more interested in the real wrestling, but I've had that falling out with watching it even.
Personally I'm extactic that there's a new GWFZ set featuring a tag team idea I've had for awhile. Kudos for Tom for letting Rob go through with a creative idea like the Z.

I was talking to Tim Dalton a couple of weeks ago, and I mentioned, "Based on the signings we had at the beginning of 2013, I would have never believed we would have put out two LOW sets with Randy Savage, Roddy Piper, Tony Atlas, Marty Jannetty, Lanny Poffo, and the Grappler." I know I left off a couple of other names, but a lot of people, including game players, worked super hard to get a lot of great signings in 2013. Plus, the continued expansion of all of the indy sets is great for game fans.
I don't run a GWF fed anymore, but I really thought the mini-set in December was cool. It was a great way to inject some characters that some players wouldn't want in the roster of the main set. Want a new commissioner, some women, and a manager card? Buy the set! Don't want them? Then skip it!
Plus, all the folks I've met since the first convention. Lots of life long friends.

I said in another thread that I thought that was long overdue for the GWF.

Some cool friends, the Z as a whole, the latest legends (one of the best collections ever even with the lack of vintage)are all things I definitely appreciate.

Filsinger Games has given me many, many hours of enjoyment over the years, any complaining or nit picking I do is because I love the game.

The level of consistency in Tom's writing over the past 28 years has been incredible. Not many writers can write a consistent series for that long. Granted, one or two GWF sets a year isn't the same as a monthly comic book or a TV series, but it's nonetheless unbelievable that he's still churning out compelling characters and storylines.

I agree. I would love to make it through every card year eventually because of this.

I wonder how many people out there have actually done that, and have all their records?

At GCon a few years ago I got to see Tom's records. He didn't get a consistent fed going until about 2089 coming out, but every match, card recap, and wrestler record he's kept track of, he still had. The craziest thing for me was that even TOM broke from the "official" storyline at times (like he had I think the Mad Jester temporarily split from the Court and feud with them--this was like in the same game-year that he debuted).
Tom has made no secret that game events are influenced by what works in his own fed. This is why I think sometimes stories get abandoned or rebooted without warning (All-Earth Squad, the Society of Death reunion in 2094, the Mother Superior thing)--because they just don't work for him personally or he stumbles across something more exciting by accident.

I think that can be the most fun part. In ace scud put up a great match against amazing Mann. So I had Mann take him under his wing. In gwfz cuddly claw lucked into tag champs with rush. Fun match ups.
