Also a really good Perfect/Doink match to qualify for King of the Ring. Which was a rematch to a few 'time limit draws' they had on TV and if I recall, that match actually goes longer than either draw did. That match is one of my favorites from the early days of RAW. It was my favorite match on the old Raw: Prime Cuts tape and I'm glad it found its way onto the Raw 93/94 DVD.

The Jannetty vs. Doink 2/3 fall match might be the best WWF match of 1993. At worst, it's in a cluster at the top with Hart/Perfect, the Hart/Lawler/Doink Summerslam deal (which almost defies a traditional match rating), and the Jannetty/Michaels "instant replay" match.
Jannetty, Bret, and Doink were the three best workers in the company at the time. Marty was *clearly* ahead of Shawn at that point from a pure working ability perspective, he just never got his head on straight.

Michaels really struggled on offense a lot. Those Duggan matches were good but they had a good chemistry and Duggan brought his working boots for those.
I'd put Perfect above Doink but Doink is still easily top 5 for that year. It's a shame they wasted him on Crush for Mania.

Episode 17 is still probably one of the best Raw episodes I've ever seen. They just packed so much into it with the Kid and Jannetty stuff.
Going back to Crush. He's my least favorite WWF wrestler ever.

I doubt if it's on the Network, but they had a blowoff match on Superstars that I think has to be the best singles match of Crush's career. I mean, no one's going to confuse it with 6/3/94, but it's a testament to Doink's greatness that the WrestleMania match didn't show. Crush had cool music and a--what's a gesture version of a catchphrase? He had one of those that the crowd was into, too. But other than that, yeah, he had absolutely nothing. Couldn't talk, and couldn't sell worth a crap which is a really bad thing if you're a babyface. The intro vignettes they had for him in '92 are probably the worst ever as well.

Crush was a big, agile guy who could be lead to a good match (March to WrestleMania X with Bret is an example of that, though I won't argue Crush had a long list of good matches) and his promos weren't that bad.

That's what makes him one of my least favorite WWE wrestlers. He had some tools and just never did anything over a fairly long run in the WWE. There have been worse wrestlers that are more forgivable than he is.

That is a sweet theme song, but I wasn't a fan of him either... I think they pushed him too hard for me to really like him.

Pushed him too hard?! He got jobbed to Doink, was made to look like a total moron, got smashed by Yoko, came back, turned heel and lost to Randy Savage before being put into a tag team with Yokozuna that lasted only a few months. It's not like he was pushed in Luger's spot.

Doink beating the shit out of him with a fake arm was really the highlight of his career.

Then you should probably change the thread title to "The Kona Crush theme song memorial thread" before we get going.
