Yeah. I'm not sure if they're doing to give them the belts or anything but they've come out of the gate super strong so far.

Still hanging out in 2011. The Ophidian heel turn was masterful in how they executed it over the course of the year.

Highlight from the Detroit show tonight was some new guy that came out at the end of the show and killed deviANT with a big choke slam. Whoever he was he looked like Bane and Predator combined, and Jimmy Jacobs was answering to him so I guess he's some high level boss. I took a pic I'll post later.
Tursas is still the best guy on the roster by far.

Yeah, that's the same guy that killed Kobald at You Only Live Twice. The fans have been calling him I think the Titan of Triton. They mentioned it during the Archibald Peck time travel stuff.

I don't know if you read results for yesterday but it sounded like Jacobs was trying to recruit Eddie Kingston during their match. Sent from my SM-T310 using Tapatalk I was there. It was a pretty intense angle, especially for Chikara. Jacobs said he was more forgiving than Deucalion (the big guy in charge) and that Deucalion would show no mercy on Kingston if he didn't join them. That wasn't getting it done, so he started talking about how he could help Eddie get "her" back. Eddie continued to beat down Jacobs, but the mic was live on the mat as Eddie was giving Jacobs hard crossface smashes Jacobs grabbed the mic and kept appealing to Kingston about bringing out the beast and "doing it for her". Eventually Eddie just stood there, waved Jacobs on, and said "do it". Jacobs speared Kingston and Eddie didn't try to kick out. Jacobs wouldn't let Gavin announce him as the winner. Apparently Deucalion showed his lack of mercy on deviANT the next night in Detroit, huh? |

Lets try this again -
random thoughts from the show in Detroit yesterday
Opener was a 4 team elimination won by the Throwbacks. they did a Detroit Tigers theme with their gear, so I was afraid they would win and they did. They are a really good act but I was cheering for Tursas and Nokken. They said the TBacks had 2 points after the win. Arik Cannon and his partner did the slow motion thing, really fun in person. Even the crowd chanted "This is awesome clap clap clap" in slow motion while it happened. The fourth team I had never seen before and missed their names. Rudos, both small but that they had a good look. One guy was a masked mime or something.
Ophidian beats a local masked guy named Movado who was awesome. He had great music, and a killer mask, and did this crazy cackle. He was really entertaining. At intermission he stayed in character and said "thank you" in the same funny cackle voice as fans shook his hand and gave him props. I want to do a card for him.
I was shocked to see Ophidian come out as a Tecnico in his original gear. A month before we did his new card, I saw him wrestle Mike Quackenbush in a 5 star match live and I was convinced he was the next great Tecnico in Chikara. He was super over and just had a 5 star match with Quack that tore the house down. What else do you want? Then he went heel, totally dumbed down him awesome offense and got lost in a super boring feud with Amasis that culminated in one of the worst matches I've ever seen from Chikara. So, great to see them erase that and do a 180. He was super over again at this show.
Great seeing Gavin and Batiri as usual.
Chuck Taylor did his usual thing, put on a good show. I wanted to yell Thantos so bad, but I didn't.
Main event was best match mostly cause they brawled all over the place and all the bar employees were totally caught off guard. It was great seeing them flee and jump over the bar in fear for their lives and the Colony started beating the shit out of the Flood outside the ring. Jimmy Jacobs grabbed a trash can that was right by me and chucked it at Worker Ant, then Fire Ant did a moonsault onto a table people had just scattered from but it didn't break.
I was saying bye to Gavin when Predator Bane came out. I'm trying to send the pics from my phone to my email so I can post it but so far nothing is showing up.
Jimmy came out during Eddies match too but I don't think he got involved. Eddie was looking torn after the match.
Devastation Corp. is really green but they have a really great look.
It was a fun show, but in a sad way, it made me miss the couple of summers not so long ago I traveled around with Chikara and saw Claudio, SDR, El Generico, Johnny Saint, Manami Toyota, Mike Quackenbush and Bryan Danielson all wrestle in amazing matches over the course of just a few shows. That was a very special time in Chikara.
No Archie, Quack or Icarus at the show. Kind of a bummer.
I picked up a new Batitri shirt, the one Werner drew of them with Delirious looking like KISS. I have a couple Tursas shirts coming in the mail too. The WAR one Werner drew where he is swinging he giant hammer is an awesome shirt. So awesome, I grabbed a second one.
