We've all seen guys get better with age...but are there any guys you can think of that were better as rookies? I've been watching a lot of early-mid 2000s New Japan and one guy comes to mind: Naofumi Yamamoto/Yoshi Tatsu.
He shows way more fire and heart here than he's ever been given a chance to in WWE. It's a shame he took that excursion, imagine how good he'd be in New Japan right now with guys like Ishii and Shibata. Hell, it's scary to think how good he'd be doing right now had he not gotten stuck with a lame J-Pop theme and been treated like a cookie cutter foreigner in WWE.

While not a rookie, Lex Luger comes to mind...he was looking like he was going to break out especially in 89 and then from 91 onward, terrible.

Luger's injury really hampered him.
