Because if I try to orchestrate a talent raid and I'm on the verge of losing my job, I'm gonna try to go back to the promotion I tried to raid. What a fucking asshole.

The rumor I heard is that Spike found out that Vince Russo was secretly working for TNA again and that's part of the reason this happened. What the fuck is their obsession with Vince Russo.
Jim Ross also mentioned that there are rumors about that Sinclair is trying to sell Ring of Honor too.

Also, would Russo be the record holder as this would mean he killed two national promotions?

Jim Ross also mentioned that there are rumors about that Sinclair is trying to sell Ring of Honor too. Someone on another board mentioned that. Apparently Court Bauer mentioned it at the Pro Wrestling HOF, which I don't think he would have because he's not in a position to be saying shit like that.

Mike Johnson reported that Impact might not be canceled yet. Negotiations might still be ongoing.
I don't get the Russo disease. Why would you risk your entire company's future over having Russo secretly working for you. That's just ridiculous.

Because Dixie is an idiot who listened to Jeff Jarrett who told her that Russo was a misunderstood creative genius or something along those lines.

Because Dixie is an idiot who listened to Jeff Jarrett who told her that Russo was a misunderstood creative genius or something along those lines. And Jarrett's assessment of Russo comes solely from the fact that he rammed Jarrett into the main event scene in WCW no matter how much people were or were not buying into it. Got to hand it to Russo: he plays the long game. He knew that Jarrett investment would pay off in jobs down the line for decades to come. Here comes the Russo era in Global Force Wrestling! To be serious for a moment: Russo didn't do a damn thing in the "Attitude Era" except muck up a few things that could have run smoother. What he did was benefit from a once in a lifetime alignment of the stars and the wrestling gods above that gave him Austin, Undertaker, Rock, DX, and Mick Foley all peaking at the same time. There has never been a roster so full of main event guys ready to go at a moments notice and there may never be again. His shitty stories may have been the restrictor plate keeping them from making even MORE money.

I'm not here to defend Russo, because he's indefensible. But, I would point out that, realistically, the number of people on the planet who have experience being the lead creative (whatever you want to call the position; Booker, Writer, Executive Producer, et al) for a major wrestling show and aren't employed by the WWE are maybe what, a half a dozen? There's Russo, Jerry Jarrett, Gabe, Bischoff, Cornette, and... Maybe Kevin Sullivan? Bischoff crashed and burned. The Cornette and Jerry Jarrett bridges are burned, and then the ashes were set on fire a second time. That leaves, if you want an experienced hand, Russo, Gabe, or maybe Kevin Sullivan... It's not a great choice to decide to go to Russo, but if you look at it through certain lenses, it almost makes sense. Except for the part where he's awful. AWFUL.

The experience crutch is the same reason really marginal NFL head coaches get hired again and again even though they're lucky to have had a handful of winning seasons in a career spanning 10-15-20 years. If a guy has experience but it is all experience in what NOT to do, then maybe it's time for a fresh voice to be heard. But when there's a lot of money on the line people freeze up and go with tried and true, even if they know the results will be average at best.

I think Russo has some value as an idea machine. But that value only comes from someone else filtering out his couple of good ideas from all of the crap and refining it into a fleshed out story. If he's doing anything else, you are fucked.
But this goes beyond Russo. If you have someone that's so poisonous to the well being of your company like that just get rid of them.
