Am I alone in thinking Sin Cara and Kalisto as a team should be called "Botchamania"?

No VaudeVillains = no buys Though I'll probably watch it anyway. Agreed! That stupid Lucha chant is almost enough to make me not watch.

Am I alone in thinking Sin Cara and Kalisto as a team should be called "Botchamania"? Probably. This isn't the Sin Cara that missed moves, it's the one who doesn't really do any. I don't have a strong opinion either way on these two, but I think they may win because it's time for the Ascention to drop the belts so they can move to the main roster. I think they're ready.

My issue really is with Kalisto. In his match against the Ascension last Takeover with Ricardo Rodrieguez as his partner, I was left with the impression that Kalisto was sloppy as hell and actually thought Rodrieguez was miles better.

Ricardo (El Local is what they were calling him, right?) seemed to me to be doing a slow, kind of clumsy version of lucha. It was not impressive in any way, in my estimation. Kalisto just throws his body around. A human pinball is what they've been calling him on commentary. It's not what everybody likes to see, but that is pretty much one popular variety of lucha libre and the guy is undeniably amazingly agile and quick.

I really don't like the human pinball think myself... it looks silly. I little guy like that can toss himself at people all day, it's not going to bother them... it just looks silly, IMO... especially the moves where the victim has to help to pull it off (like the stuff where they do twirling hurricanas and such)

Rassin Frassin stupid Lucha chant.
Good matches, so far, though. I was a bit disappointed in the lack of hair cutting in the hair vs. hair match, but otherwise a good show so far.
Nice intro for Kenta.. good to see a non-WWE guy getting some respect for a change.

Good show. Just a little bummed that we never got to find out if Renee Young was 'happy to be there' or not.

REGAL: Here's Kenta! WWE UNIVERSE: Kenta! Kenta! Kenta! KENTA: From now on I'll be called Hideo Itami.
Some rough and tumble with Ascension.
WWE UNIVERSE: Kenta! Kenta! Kenta!
Good luck WWE.

I really, really don't get why they didn't just let him keep the name KENTA.

I really, really don't get why they didn't just let him keep the name KENTA. For the same reason why Kevin Steen will be Cujo Barandowicz or Serge Ouellette or something like that. So WWE can own the copyright. Not that hard to understand.

So WWE can own the copyright. Not that hard to understand. It is kind of hard to understand when it comes on the heels of Triple H talking about how he wanted to cash in on the name recognition of guys and hinting that at worst they'd just put a WWE spin on the names. They called him KENTA until they had him announce the new name himself. The crowd were even chanting "KENTA", so why not keep that as part of his name?

You can probably thank Phil Brooks and his lawyers for the decision to do a full name change then. After the events of this week, I'd be surprised if anyone debuted using the name they came in with (or even their real name) ever again... Except Sting, of course.

Personally, I think Kenta's new name is Hideo-us. Amirite?
