I was excited about the return of Chikara and went to both National Pro Wrestling Day and You Only Live Twice but it's not the same. I even changed my plans on attending all three nights of KOT to just night three. Anyone else feel the sane lack of interest in the rebooted Chikara ?

I would say I don't see near as much talk about Chikara in various places online as I used to.

I think the "are we closed/Ashes/Quack is a tool" storyline chased off the casual fan and cost Chikara a huge amount of momentum and fan goodwill.

It definitely hurt itself....I think they're trying to gain momentum but they still seem to be sorting through the roster and such.....things may not improve before next year.

That's what I was saying months ago and people told me this was going to be what made Chikara bigger than it was before. They dragged it out for a year and you can't expect people outside of the very niche group that are the diehards to follow the whole story through.

It definitely went on too long... if that wasn't by choice, then so be it, but I think that's definitely the issue. Their buzz is totally gone, it seems to me

I'm going to offer a different take. They screwed themselves by not having the roster totally figured out when they came back and they absolutely fucked themselves by not having quick turnaround on their DVDs. I had a lot of Chikara interest for about 3 weeks after they came back. But there were no shows and no DVD of You Only Live Twice. By the time I could actually get the DVD there wasn't anything to keep my interest in Chikara. That interest got turned to other things wrestling related. They really needed to figure out how to space out the summer shows better. They ran 3 shows in 2 days in June. One of those shows couldn't have been a week earlier?

And I think the Flood really hurt them as well.

I've been catching up on the shows over the weekend. I think a glaring hole in the new Chikara is Tim Donst. They don't have anyone that brings what he used to bring to the table now. He was great in the booth, he had good promos, his matches were always good and he was always a top 3 heel.
I also don't care for the new cover art or how they're producing stuff between the matches.
One positive I will say is that Missile Assault Ant has some real potential.

Oh and trying to use Heidi Lovelace like Sara Del Ray doesn't work... AT ALL...

SDR is definitely hard to replace and yeah, Heidi does not cut it. One thing Sara had going for her was she was as tall as a lot of the guys.

Sara was just a fucking tank. Even if the match sucked you never felt like the guys were dumbing it down for her or holding back. With Heidi it feels like everyone is going half speed and really just keeping to the basics. And Heidi's moves look like shit too, none of them look like they hurt. Sara's stuff always looked good.
