This is something I was told last night and has to be one of the most ignorant and meanest things I've ever heard. My friend was called home on emergency leave from the Air Force because his mother a (lifetime smoker) was put in the hospital due to problems with her lungs. After visiting his mother who was told she has about 5 months to live even if she chooses to be on sort of breathing machine around the clock his step mother( also a smoker) approached him and asked if she could have his mother's cigarettes since she wouldn't need them anymore. What would you have done or said if this was you? Personally I think I would have kicked that woman's skull in

It does sound a little heartless, regardless of how his mother reacted.

Sounds like that woman could have used a folding chair to the head.......All be the remark being horrible, i don't get the logic. You see someone on a breathing machine due to a lifetime of smoking, and your first thought is asking them for cigarettes. If I was a smoker and saw someone that I love in that condition, I would be trying like hell to quit instead of trying to score free smokes.

How did the guy's mother react? I dont think my friend's mother knew anything about it. My friend's mother in law asked for his mom's cigarrettes right after he got home from the hospital and found out that his real mom( the one on the breathing machine) only had 5 months to live

I would have told her that she is crazy to do such a thing. Also i would have said that if she didnt stop smoking that she could end up like the mother.

Here's an update on this story. My friend's mother decided not to be put out on on a breathing machine and wanted to die at home. She was released from the hospital and died 7 hours later at home. The next morning about 12 hours after she died the stepmother was at the front door asking to look through the deceased mother's things. My friend refused to let her in and sent her on her way. The lack of respect and nerve of this woman is unbelievable

first... I soooooo agree with ty, let the bitch die... secondly, my condolences to your friend, but kudos to the mother for going under her own terms...
I am constantly in absolute awe (and NOT in any good way) over the absolute callous and heartless nature of some people... That woman needs to be absolutely ashamed and told to stay the hell away from your friend... and Mike's answer to the chair shot to the head might be good too
