-Reported from Weekly Gong with the Black Japan faction on the cover
This week’s edition features a story on the formation of Black Japan led by Jun Akiyama. Akiyama is quoted as saying that Jumbo Tsuruta and Shinya Hashimoto do not deserve to be in the Champion’s Carnival at all. Akiyama says that Black Japan members, Super Strong Machine and Hiro Saito would be better replacements for the two iconic stars.
Akiyama is asked about his relationship with Akira Hokuto. Akiyama says she’s a full member of Black Japan and will accompany him to the ring for his matches. When asked about Hokuto’s husband, Kensuke Sasaki, Akiyama acted like he had never heard of Sasaki before, asking if Sasaki is a pro wrestler. Akiyama says that any man is a fool to leave his wife behind while he travels the back water promotions of the United States.
In other news, King’s Road announced the creation of two new titles. The All-Pacific heavyweight title will be a secondary title to the J-1 Crown championship. Also announced, is the reinstatement of the International Women’s tag team title. When and where the title vacancies will be filled was not mentioned.
King’s Road also announced that the company was in negotiations to bring ‘monster’ wrestlers to Japan for the second tour of April beginning on April 17th. Also discussed, was Akira Hokuto’s next International Women’s championship title defense against SMW’s Mickie James at the stand alone show entitled Champion’s Carnival Finale on April 27th.
