Just curious, most of us are Legends fans. I fully admit that if Legends didn’t come along, I may have quit playing COTG, although I still enjoyed it, but with marriage, work, kids…it takes your time. But Legends has kept my interest and has kept me in touch with the GWF.
However, I fully admit to enjoy the vast majority of GWF storylines, etc. But I can think of a few things, creative wise, that just made me go “UGH”
Here are a few of mine. I’m curious as to what others GWF ugh moments are
1) The whole Alpha Stone is a sham. That basically made Chaos’ 2092 card worthless. I never liked that card and how weak he became when you rolled on the Alpha Force (his PIN going to a 7(4) for a 7 foot, 350 pound giant!??!)’
2) The Bloodline was eventually revealed as Star Warrior’s son. I always thought it was a cop out. I think once Tom got to writing the stuff, he really realized that Omega was much too old to be Bloodline’s son (unless he is tapping some young stuff).
3) Bendis and Gustovich drawings. Just absolutely horrible. That Gustovich stuff was so beyond horrible, it can’t be put into words. While Bendis had a few moments like Metalhead, my gosh, I couldn’t believe with all the other artist in GWF lore…you look at theirs and there is Bendis with the no shape bodies and severe shading because you won’t put detail in it.
4) The Cosmic Battle 2118 storyline. I mean, the whole basis of this edition was that the entire universe was collapsing and going into chaos, but the next edition totally forgot about it. The later excuse was the UFSP were keeping a close eye on anyone who did travel between dimensions. Okay, I think I’d make it 100% impossible for anyone to travel between dimensions if I knew what it caused (basically the destruction of the fabric of the universe. I’m a long way off from 2118, but lif you want to keep a realist fed, you totally have to ignore the most key component from that edition.
And for those who think I"m 'hatin", I'm compiling my list of best ones as well. This was a lot easier since I didn't have too much

Agree with the Alpha Stone thing... I think he created it in the first place because he was worried the card was too powerful.. (which is ironic, considering what we've got now.
I actually liked the Bloodline thing, I think it added depth to Star Warrior's character, and made ALOT more sense. I think where that story fell down is the amount of time Tom's been dragging out the Mother Superior thing... just spill it and move on.. it's like he can't decide what he wants the story to be.
Here are my top aggravations, plotwise:
- The All-Earth squad... clearly, at that point in GWF history, Tom had decided everyone had to be in a stable, neat and orderly... very bad idea.
- Spike turning face for a year. If he stayed face for a bit, fine. But as it was, it really felt like it was simply a matter of him realize there were too many good heels.
-- Vanity sucking. He should have been better, or not had a good story. Even his small upgrade really just let him keep up with power creep.
-- Greg Valentine and Mike Fortune - I understand Tom was excited to have a real wrestler in the game, but it was really pretty silly to have him in the GWF... I mean of all the wrestlers in history Krakan could have picked... Valentine shouldn't have even been in the top 100.
Currently (though there's still time) the complete vanishing of Thantos and Epoch. I know some people think it too obvious, but if I ever play 2119 and up again, Thantos WILL be Iron Hand... the Drury thing is kinda dumb, imo. This could easily be fixed next set though.. if Thantos (the real one) doesn't respond to the fake Thantos, I'll be really pissed... there's no way, as portray, he should be ignoring him.
I really thought Epoch was going to be a player.. he had cool art, good stats, and a decently developed (if not particularly original) story. Why he just got tossed out I don't get... but worse, was that we were teased that something big was happening with him for what, 2 sets? 3? I just don't get it.

Those are two good ones.
I still remember a couple years ago reading Drury was Iron Hand and just went, "Really? Really?!?"
and I know that Nitro us supposed to be this star or something in the GWF, but will be nothing more than comic relief in my fed. Nothing but comic relief

I did an interesting intro for Nitro G. His first match was against Patch and when he saw a close up view of the missing eye socket he pissed his pants and ran back to the locker room. Next he runs into Havoc who laughs at him and then Nitro hits him with a kinetic blast putting Havoc through the wall. This started a feud between Havoc an Nitro that ended with them being tag team partners after Havoc was never able to beat Nitro in a match. Havoc was the IP champion but for some reason the dice didn't let him beat Nitro

The Alpha Stone thing was just damn ridiculous! I was pissed over that one. The Bloodline being passed off as Omega's kid at first was screwed up too. I remember bringing it up way back then and basically being told I was wrong... I was like ummm just do the math! He was either adopted or Omega's old ass was robbing the damn cradle. Gustovich, worst GWF artist PERIOD. Horrible art, on top of that seemed everyone had the same damn pose. I cant believe 2098 was released with that art. Bendis = if it doesnt work... shade, SHADE, SHADE!!!

Mike Fortune I could deal with... Valentine, as a Hitman... yeah, bad idea. When his card was first released before the actual set I had him feud with Paragon briefly... briefly caused Paragon destroyed him in every match.

I think the Drury thing is alot like Paganax coming to the GWF this set... Vince does the same thing if the internet guesses an angle.. they make it 'shocking' instead of making it good. I think Tom thought Thantos would be a shock, and then when we all assumed it was so, he changed it so people would be surprised. Same with Paganax being the guy to come to the GWF instead of Avarice. (that can still be salvaged by Osk, though) Paganax coming to the GWF couldve had potential if given a good reason for him to leave his home world, home dimension instead of the one given... a new tribe... big whoop. Paganax so far hasnt been able to hold his own against Endgame. I do think Avarice wouldve been a cooler addition to the GWF.

Wolf unretiring both times was disappointing.
Monolith as a whole is not something I am into.
US Patriot's heel turn made no sense.
terminus leaving in his prime was very disappointing.
paragon's lack of ....everything.

Im glad he's gone again and hope he stays gone. Monolith sucks... PERIOD Paragon was cool for me he did far more than Pegasus did for me. Pegasus was the choke artist in my fed back in the day.

Wolf coming back was especially bad since he's like the only guy that ever was brought back.. there are so many guys that would have been better.
Monolith is just a bad package... dumb art, too strong a card... boring character. I'm not sorry to see him go... hopefully either he won't come back, or he'll be more interesting.

I keep telling everyone, Monolith was genius. His art was just a head shot, because he had NO BODY!
He was a big giant head! That's why he had a 3 (0) PIN Rating. No shoulders!
