Watched The Bucket List today. OK, I knew it would be depressing going in, but it was still depressing. And I didn't think it was very funny like the commericial made it out to be.

Saw this one last night: Pretty good, but not great. I like Ricky Gervais, but he really is best when he sticks to comedy.. there was alot of 'feel-good' romantic stuff in here, which really took away. The pre-movie opening scene that is only on the DVD is probably the best part (featuring everyone in the cast pretty much as a caveman with Patrick Stewart doing a documentary-like voice-over)

Saw this last nigt. Not bad after you get past the horrible title. Standard triangle/success movie within the backdrop of rodeo. Robert Mitchum saves just about any movie...and Susan Hayward is a very attrative lady...but seems a bit miscast to me.

Horror of Dracula is (IMO) the best Dracula movie of all-time. I also happen to think that Lee is better than Lugosi as Dracula.
Kelly and I watched Horror of Dracula (again) Friday night because we hadn't seen it in a while.

Kelly and I watched Horror of Dracula (again) Friday night because we hadn't seen it in a while. I have to agree with you JJ, Christopher Lee is a very cool Dracula and better then Lugosi and this film really was great! Glad you and Kelly watched it, you watched it on TCM at 8pm? I did and it was fun, I dvr'd the others...With no Lee in this one but Cushing was there, this one I thought was really good too and I really like the castle they were in it was really cool looking...This was the return of Lee as Dracula and it was I think as good as the first two and I liked how Lee didn't speak and on TCM Robert Osbourne said that Lee said he hated the lines he had so he refused to speak the lines, again I like the designs of the insides of the castle, very cool looking...I still have to watch this one, I'm glad I've dvr'd these films they are fun for sure...

Watched Invictus today. A good film, for a true sports story as well as showing some of what Mandela did in South Africa.

I grew up watching Hammer movies and I have seen every one of them a ton of times.
Brides is a good movie, as they needed to do a film without Dracula in it (Lee turned down the film). It is a good, just different. I love the scene where Cushing has to burn his wound with the cross.
As for Dracula: POD and Dracula Has Risen From His Grave, just great Hammer Dracula action. With Lee no speaking in POD, it made the movie very different than Horror.

This weekend's viewing: My 18yo daughter thought it was funny. I didn't 'get it' except for the Harry Potter reference. I am a Joe Pesci fan...but this was horrible. Great story...great cast...great production...a first class movie. Watch for Gene Wilder in a small part which is almost surreal. This is just a fun movie...though stereotypical and comical at times. BTW, watch Kirk Douglas in this movie...and them watch his role in The Villain. The Villain is not a great movie...he shares the film with Ann Margaret and Arnold (who is yet to really adapt to English). The Villain is a live action road runner cartoon of a movie. Seeing him jump on his horse in War Wagon...and using the same jumps in the Villain is pretty funny. In the movie...Douglas is Cactus Jack and Arnold is Handsome Stranger. Not a great movie that sort of goes all over the place. It does have interesting performances by Walter Matthau, Joey Bishop, Claude Akins and James Gregory. Griffith gets his most notoriety from No Time For Sargents...which was good...but A Face in the Crowd is excellent....in that one...he makes a heel turn. side note: Douglas was 51 and Wayne was 60 when they made The War Wagon.

Just finished Dracula Has Risen From the Grave, a decent film for sure...
Yeah Cushing using the hot cross was cool...
Speaking of Hammer Films, they have a new film with Christopher Lee in it...
The Resident is a thriller-drama which is directed by Antti Jokinen and stars Hilary Swank and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
Plus, I didn't know Let Me In is a Hammer Film and that one looks cool...
I also watched Bonnie and Clyde on TCM with the Essentials and this was the first time I ever sat down and wanted to watch this movie and it is really good, not a Warren Beatty fan but he was good in this and Dunaway is smokin in this one...

Back on topic, you guys watch ALOT of old movies I rather watch more old movies then any of the newer one's coming out in the last 3 to 5 years, they don't make movies like they did when Hollywood was really on top of film making. I watched this one from last night on TCM... I really like this version of the story and Fredric March is a very good actor...
