You know. I had for a long time always had a concept in my head for if I ever got into the Promoter Madness or got a chance like this. It was going to be a werewolf that could possibly change during matches. In his normal state he was pretty balanced and as a werewolf he was all offense and no defense. He literally could tear you to shreds on offense but on defense you could also basically just roll him up and pin him because he was essentially just a dumb animal at that point.
I had been sitting on that idea for years and then this rolled around. I was getting the character ready and at the last second I really became disillusioned with the idea.
Instead I decided to go with the current idea. This evolved from a stuffed kangaroo that my wife bought and calls Roger the Roo. I also call my wife Roo as a nickname, etc. I had also been playing a ridiculous amount of POW at the time so MMA was foremost on my mind.
Born from that came the MMA fighting kangaroo that I've submitted to the game. I'm happy with him and I think he's more original and people will enjoy him more than the werewolf I was thinking of.

I don't know, this may be controversial, but looking at Werner's stuff now, he's kinda hit the ceiling. He hasn't gotten worse, but it's kinda there's Werners stuff now. Maybe it's me, but seems like he's hit that peak and there isn't anything that is wham pow

I think it's just that we see so much of Werner's stuff, it's hard for him to do something to grab you, at this point. There's only so much you can do with a wrestling card, after all.
I still think he's an excellent artist, but I have to say I'm happy to see other people's work, just for the variety.

That's a good point Wildfire, but on the other hand, I'm hoping to see Steve Stanley on Legends until the last wrestler agrees to sign up for Legends.

Swarm's main teaser for this is the Top 50 reasons to Buy GWFZT and it's been all characters so far. I think we're probably in for more guys than that.
I'm excited for the set. Swarm has really captured a feel that the GWF has been lacking lately. It feels like he really sits down and gives every character a lot of thought when he does a new set. I'm going to really miss getting new sets but I imagine Swarm will release some guys here and there.

Yeah, I don't know how his writing is as far as tying things together (he seems to be doing alot of reliving the past from the bits he posts) but I agree he definitely has a passion that has been lacking for some time in the GWF sets.

Well, I can say that in the 15 or so minutes that Swarm and I chatted about my character, we had 3 ideas that basically merged into one. So I can vouch for the dudes creativity and passion.

Yeah, I don't know how his writing is as far as tying things together (he seems to be doing alot of reliving the past from the bits he posts) but I agree he definitely has a passion that has been lacking for some time in the GWF sets. It's a lot different. Wrestler's typically have a main feud and several back up feuds. Usually a team in the GWFZ is feuding with 2 or 3 other teams. And Swarm usually changes the teams up and feuds up every year. He's only done 4 sets but I've never felt that Swarm just glosses over anyone. I felt like the Greek Gods vs. the Cosmic Forces went on forever and they just got glossed over every year. You also get some good storylines. Like Cuddley Claw's constant search for a tag partner because he's too lazy to wrestle matches alone. So every year he has a new partner and this time the partner is going to work out. Things like that are what really separates the GWFZ from the GWF.

wildfire - Yeah but I like the idea of having 'official' characters. I'm thinking of doing one but can't decide if I just want to do one and update Lone Star as she was very much a rookie and no one can get her card anymore. @double A - I kinda know what you mean but I feel like his Lone Star art did. (I know biased maybe) but check out what I gave him and what he did with it.... s367.photobucket.com/albums/oo119/mrbeefy_photos/Lonestar%20Reference/Despite it being based off my ex i still like looking at what he did with the art.

I think what's official is kinda fuzzy now... from what I understand CPC and GWFZ were 'bought' by Mark and Swarm, so they're no longer part of FG, though obviously they still sorta live in Tom's world... you'll note they aren't sold by FG, or mentioned in any way on the web site... only the board.
No idea if the upcoming aCe mini-set will be the same, or if it'll be an offical product
I guess the real test will be if Tom mentions them again in the GWF stuff.. I'm guessing he won't, actually, but we'll see.

Overall it's for the best that what once was official ( Z, CPC and maybe aCe ) be in the hands of the fans if the official FG product reverts back to just Tom's creations. We know this Territory thing ends the GWFZ, but really it won't end bootlegs from the many promoters out there...

I'm a little confused as to how much, or maybe my question is, why does Rob have so much to do with someone's submission? I mean if you create the character, write a bio, do the stats, what all does he have to do with it? I see people saying he did all this work on your guy so I'm just wondering why. Does he just help with background or is he trying to mold all the card stats to fit some vision of his own as to how all these characters shoudl fit together.

I think it depends. So far he made some slight backstory changes and that was from my character trying to get into the GWF instead of POW. But my character was really refined and developed. He probably does more for less fleshed out guys.

For Lone Star he thought of changing the name of her finisher which i thought was good and helped me adapt her story into a more Galactic one. It was basically the same though

I guess Swarm and Co. got Mike Quackenbush to agree to being a part of the set. You should go to Swarm's board and check out his art. It's pretty awesome looking.
