You should try Mutants and Masterminds for superheroes. It really simulates the battles well. You can actually one shot the baddies if they fail a toughness save and it's all point buy. I read the Champions book once. It was not a pleasant experience. I honestly don't know how people play that game. And this is coming from a guy that somehow made the Shadowrun 2nd and 3rd edition combat rules make sense. I've heard about Mutants and Masterminds but the problem is with role playing games ( at least for me) is finding people who are willing to get together on a regular basis to play. That was a big part of the reason I got out of it years ago. My friend had the champions game and it really frustrated me trying to figure it out. The Heroes Unlimited game was a good alternative to both marvel and champions. Heroes Unlimited was compatible with other games by Palladium. like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teenage_Mutant_Ninja_Turtles_%26_Other_StrangenessRifts, Robotech and a bunch of others. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the After The Bomb supplements were great and worth checking out if you have a regular group of gamers

I don't have the time with a wife, job and house these days. I miss it but what can you do. I get to do a couple of COTG/LOW shows a week and I might try to find some people to play MonPoc with.

Wow. Don't think I've ever heard someone not like the classic MSH system. It's simplicity is waht makes it great. You can play any type game you want with MSH, not just superheroes.

I know the feeling I've tried going to a few of these game club meetings and felt weird being the only one had the Dungeons and Dragons first edition players handbook. Hopefully the people I played these games with in college and high school will have time to play again when they retire.

It was ok at first but didn't take long to start looking for something better. The game was very limited and didn't require an amazing reason and excellent pysche to play lol. I cant say it was the worst game I've ever played though. Here's a link with a lot of the original characters and bunch of other stuff you can download classicmarvelforever.com/cast_list/all.htm

Gamma World (The original) was a post-apocaolptic scenario... so there was high tech stuff (Mostly created by Mike Soft ) and sword and sorcery. The best part about it, IMO was character creation.. you be a mutated anything, and they had logical, good rules for it. Never heard of Star Frontiers, but the name sounds like a Space type one, which would be totally different.

Star Frontiers was sort of like Star Trek with different races and space ships. There was actually an early AD&D module ( cant remember the name) that was sort of science fiction based. In the module you were able to discover laser weapons but not Dungeon Master I knew would ever let you use them eventhough they had a limited number of charges before they were no good.

Does anyone remember what the difference was between Star Frontiers and Gamma World ? I think Star Frontiers was just a D&D in space game. I have the setting book for Alternity somewhere.

I found this NBA card game at Walmart called Adrenalyn XL. Seems like a basketball version of WWE Slam Attax. Bought a starter and a few backs. Gonna start playing it.

I think it was Turkish and Wildfire that did an email D&D game with me a couple of years ago. I think it lasted 3-4 months before it fell apart.
