Those are really nice... I remember back when Hero clix first came out I was super excited about the concept, but massively disappointed at the lack of quality and detail of the figures... if the original first few were that good, I'd probably have a million of them instead of two big boxes of Magic cards @ MD: I've never played the Strat football, only Statis Pro... how do they do the defense... indiviual guys, or more like team stats? Statis Pro had cards for every player, and I always thought it was kinda a drag.

Team defense. As you add advanced rules you can manage the individual guys more. But in basic, you either play off the cards or don't. In advanced, you get some player ratings but a lot of it still comes off the defensive cards.
You have 6 play types in Strat. 3 run and 3 pass. The defense guesses what the offense will call. If you get it right, you have a chance to roll off the defensive card for whatever play they called. Cleveland's defense is bad for 2007 so they usually give up yardage on most of the plays anyways.

That sounds similar to Statis Pro call wise.. I think it was left/right/center run; long/medium/short pass.
They had boxes on the field that you put guys in (you could overload the line, or one side, or whatever) and the play called a box... you compared the guys in the box (a negative rating) with the off. line guy (a + rating) which modified the result off the running back's card... IIRC, picking the right play on defense added to the # on the running back's chart (it was a 1-10 (or maybe 1-12) chart where 1 could be a big play).

Advanced works like that. For solo play, which I do, basic is more friendly and helps to simulate a defense to run against.

I went a little crazy with my tax return and bought Strat hockey and a couple of seasons.
Now I have a conundrum. Do I play football, hockey, basketball or baseball first.

Lots of good choices. Go with whatever mood you are in. That is what I do.

At least, everything I've heard with the last few sets indicates that nothing's changed.

As an overall, Heroclix appears to have changed quite a bit. paint Jobs are much, much better, the figures now come with stat cards, and I am sure the game mechanics have had a huge overhaul. One thing I can tell you is that they have changed figured distribution as well- no more getting total crap in a booster. Oh yeah, they did away with the "Rookie/ Experienced/ Veteran/ Unique" system as well.

Good, I hated that system as you would get obscene amounts of certain guys.

The R/E/V/U system is still around, it's just no longer applicable to every character, each character is now part of just one of those ranks. I know about the recent gameplay changes, I was just saying that there's still hit/miss paint jobs on sculpts.

Street Fighter Heroclix is cool, and I'm in support of it, but.. Gears of War Heroclix? No way in hell.
