Battle of the Atom: great idea, started strong, terrible finish. As fun as the actual All New X-Men comic is, I'm done with multiple copies of people in the same story... they need to either kill off the 'old' versions (not that big a deal, really at this point, Beast is ruined, Angel is already a new character, and Iceman is exactly the same.. Cyclops is a loss, but I'd be ok with it)... 'Kitty Pryde's X-Men' sounds real good to me at this point . I'm massively annoyed that Infinity is FINALLY over, and we get yet another stupid cosmic Hickman ClusterFuck in Avengers. I dropped out of Green Lantern when the rainbow thing happened... I try it every so often, but it hasn't caught my attention.. I was hoping 'Lights Out' was going to fix things (since Johns is gone now), but no such luck. I've really cut down on my DC stuff, actually.. forever evil is too slow and plodding for me... I'm just reading Nightwing and Batgirl at this point (when they don't cross over to other stuff), and the occasional JLA/Justice League to see what's up. OTher than that and trade-waiting for Aquaman, that's it. While the actual 5 years later thing sounds terrible to me, some of the spin offs sounded really good. I don't recall if it was bleedingcool or another site, but the rumors for the OTHER stuff that sound really good. I have been enjoying alot of the current Marvel stuff (ANX-Men, Wolverine and the X-Men, Legacy, Thor, Spidey, Daredevil, Avengers Arena)... I've also been enjoying reading Golden Age stuff via some good deals on Marvel Masterworks I got.

Wolverine and the X-Men is one of the best books out there right now. Superior Foes of Spider-Man was excellent.

I really think Forever Evil would have benefited from being double shipped. I liked the first few issues but there's still 4 more months of it disrupting books I read. JLA will have had 10 of 16 issues involved in crossovers and they're changing the team afterwards. So what was the fucking point?
DC also took out the backups on $3.99 books. So all you get is a better cover. Why don't they just do the free digital copy like Marvel does? It's awesome loading up a bunch of stuff on my tablet and catching up on my books wherever I go.

I didn't like Superior Foes, fun concept, just meh characters to me... maybe if they did it with villains I like I'd be more inclined. $7.99?? Damn... better be at least 64 pages for that price. That's pretty lousy, at least count it as 2 months and send it or something.

Batman Year Zero has been awful on prices. You never know what those issues are going to run. It was $7.99 one month and then $4.99 or $5.99 the next month. I honestly wouldn't be buying books anymore if I wasn't using DCBS.

Read WWE Superstars #1. Fun comic, I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how this progresses.

That's some serious bullshit on not sending to subscribers.

Actually turns out Dan DiDio sent out a message that DC will make this right by the fans and will be including it in the subscription. Also, do you suppose they made "new" Detective 27 the 1000 issue intentionally, planned that way in advance? Or was it just a pure coincidence that they got that kind of perfect symmetry (original Detective 27 being the first appearance of Batman, in case one or two people who read this didn't know)?

I read WWE Superstars #1 on Comixology as well. It's actually the first digital book I've ever purchased, but paying a $1.99 seemed easier than trying to track down a physical copy right now since no local shops carry it (has to be preordered or special ordered). It's not bad, really. I like it a lot more than the WWE's last attempt at a comic. If it builds properly on this first issue it may end up being the best wrestling related comic to ever be released in the US.
To balance that out, I also read Saga #1 by Bryan K Vaughn and Fiona Staples. I had heard good things about that series, and issue one hooked me. I'm definitely going to pick up the first two trades in physical form ASAP.

Batman 66 if you're on Comixology.
You should browse the free books as well, some good stuff in there.

You should be able to figure out which Detective issue would have been 1,000. When did they restart the numbers? I don't think they would just say this one is 1,000 as somebody out there would let people know if it wasn't.

I'm just wondering if they somehow thought it out in advance "hey, if we cancel 'old Detective' at this number, by the time we reach new number 27 in the new 52, it'll be issue 1000"; or if it just happened to end up that way and someone in editorial noticed.

This would be issue 908 of Detective if they hadn't done renumbering.
This is significant because it's Detective Comics #27 ie the issue number that featured Batman's first appearance.

Action Comics is actually a little closer because of Action Comics weekly in the 1980s. With the added issues it's at 931 when #27 comes out.
