A crazy 10-inning game one that saw the Pre-Nationals come back to win 3-2 over the Pre-Americans.
Joe DiMaggio and Joe Cronin hit solo homers in the bottom of the second. The Pre-Americans had just four hits for the game against Pete Alexander, Eppa Rixey and Dizzy Dean.
The Nationals scored an unearned run in the sixth on an error by Babe Ruth. In the top of the ninth, an error on defensive replacement Earl Averill allowed the tying run to score.
Gabby Hartnett hit a solo homer off Ted Lyons for a 3-2 lead in the 10th.
Lefty Grove went eight innings for a no-decision, allowing one unearned run and only two hits.

A tremendous pitching matchup that Stan Coveleski came out on top by throwing a four-hitter in a 3-0 win for the Pre-Americans.
Dazzy Vance went seven innings and allowed one earned run and just three hits.
Vance walked a run home in the fifth. With two out in the seventh after an error on Frankie Frisch, Babe Ruth hit a two-run homer.

Dizzy Dean couldn't hold the 5-2 lead in the bottom of the ninth. Joe Sewell drove in the first run, and a ground out allowed another to score. Hank Greenberg came off the bench to hit a two-run homer and win the game.

Joe DiMaggio's two-run homer tied the game in the bottom of the sixth. In the bottom of the ninth, Eppa Rixey walked Joe Cronin, and he was bunted to second. A wild pitch put him on third and Hank Greenberg hit a sacrifice fly to win the game.

Wow, that must have been an incredible series to play... 6 out of seven games decided in the 8th or 9th... you couldn't have booked a better one.

A very fun series. I knew the Americans could win 3 straight but really don't expect that down in the series 3-1. A little anticlimatic with a sac fly winning game 7 though.

A great series opener that went 12 innings before the Post Nationals won 6-5.
The Grays tied the game 5-5 on a two-run homer by Josh Gibson that came after an error in leftfield by Pete Rose.
In the bottom of the 12th, Joe Morgan singled and stole second. Mike Schmidt, who had entered as a defensive replacement for Eddie Mathews, singled to rightfield. Morgan beat the throw home from Chino Smith to win the game.
Willie Mays and Hank Aaron hit back to back home runs in the first inning for the Post Nationals. Sandy Koufax pitched nine innings in the no-decision, allowing three earned runs on seven hits with 13 strikeouts. Slim Jones worked four scoreless innnings of relief for the Grays.
