A great comeback by the Post Nationals but Washington wins in the bottm of the ninth to tie the series at two games apiece.
An error by Bob Gibson and a passed ball by Roy Campanella sent the game-winning run home for the Homestread Grays.
Willard Brown hit his fourth home run of the series for the Grays. Billy Williams and Roberto Clemente each collected a pinch-hit home run for the Nationals.

This series is first place vs. last place. The Grays have knotted things at 2-2 so now it's a best of 3. Can Washington win its first series of the tournament?

The Post Nationals take a 3-2 series lead following a complete game by Sandy Koufax in game, a 4-1 win over the Homestead Grays.
Koufax pitched nine innings in game one, but it went extras. He fanned 12 and allowed just five hits.
Johnny Bench hit a three-run homer off Max Manning in the fifth inning. Cool Papa Bell's solo shot was the only run allowed by Koufax.

Another well-pitched game by Washington that wasn't quite enough. Orlando Cepeda's home run in the 11th won the game and the series for the Post Nationals.
Big Bill Foster went into the eighth inning with a shutout for the Grays. He ran into trouble but Webster McDonald got the final out with the bases loaded.
Roosevelt Davis gave up a two-run bomb to Mike Schmidt that tied the game in the bottom of the ninth.

The lead for the Stars was short-lived as the Left Outers hit four home runs in an 11-4 game one win.
Willie McCovey hit two roundtrippers and Frank Robinson connected for a grand slam home run.
Steve Carlton finished the game, allowing three earned runs on eight hits with five walks and six strikeouts.

Good pitching carried the Left Outers to a 4-1 win over the Detroit Stars and a two games to none lead in the series.
Early Wynn's second start of the tournament saw him go six innings allowing one run on four hits with four walks. Herb Pennock pitched two perfect innings and Robin Roberts worked the ninth for the save.

It was a 2-1 ball game going to the seventh inning. The Left Outers took off from there with home runs by Duke Snider, Jimmie Foxx and Mickey Cochrane to pull away and win 9-5 to take a three games to none lead over the Detroit Stars.
Don Sutton worked 7 2/3 innings for the win. Harry Salmon fell to 1-6 in the tournament.

The Detroit Stars showed heart by not going down in a four-game sweep and win game four 5-4.
Winning pitcher Nip Winters drove in a run with a double. Oscar Charleston, Ben Taylor and Dick Lundy hit solo home runs.
One unearned run cost the Left Outers. In the first inning Chick Hafey rolled a 19 on a 1-18 home run split.

The Left Outers exploded for eight runs in the top of the ninth inning to beat Detroit 11-4 and win the series in five games.
Bill Holland gave up a pinch-hit two-run homer to Enos Slaughter that put the Left Outers ahead 5-4. Frank Wickware came in and allowed six more runs. Goose Goslin capped the frame with a three-run homer.

An awesome opening game that went 12 innings with great pitching and defense. Sam Thompson drove in George Davis with the winning for the Old Timers as they take a 1-0 lead in the series.
The Old Timers left 14 men on base while Pittsburgh left 10 men on base. The Old Timers tied the game 1-1 in the sixth but Dick Redding got out a two-out, bases loaded jame. They had two men on in the ninth and led off the 10th and 11th with doubles but couldn't score.
The Crawfords were held to seven hits for the game. Al Spalding went nine, allowing three hits and none after John Beckwith homered in the fourth. The Old Timers used all five position players they have on the bench.

The Old Timers got a complete game from Tim Keefe and three hits from Sam Thompson and Dan Brouthers helped the Old Timers to a 5-1 win and a two games to none lead over the Pittsburgh Crawfords.
Keefe allowed one run in the top of third on a single, stolen base and another single. He gave up one hit the next six innings.
Buck Ewing tied the game with a base hit in the bottom of the fourth, and King Kelly's two-run single gave the Old Timers the lead.

The Old Timers blew a chance to take a 3-0 lead in the series. The Pittsburgh Crawfords battled back and scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh and went on to win 10-8.
Buck Ewing hit a grand slam in the top of the first to give the Old Timers a 5-0 lead. Pittsburgh stayed alive with four runs in its first at-bat. Pittsburgh trailed 8-4 but scored five runs off Old Hoss Radbourn in the bottom of the seventh. Bullet Joe Rogan came off the bench to drive in two runs to take the lead.
