Super Dragon is back, doesn't look much different than the last time anyone saw him. The crowd reaction alone puts this near the top moments in pro wrestling for 2011. Very few moments in wrestling give me goosebumps anymore, but this was one of them.

I was there. Sadly I know knotting of Super Dragon so it did nothing for me. El Generico pulling off the heating vent to capture the title was awesome though.
Performer of the night went to Chuck Taylor. The guy know comedy and is super nice as well.

How was the show overall? There were a lot of people calling it the show of the year.

Well, you'd have to ask Mr. Vegas. This is the first one I'd been to in probably over a year. Mr. V goes to pretty much all of them.
I'll say it was a good show with some fun spots. Tom and I agreed that it's not quite our style of wrestling (little too spot heavy) but it was still a fun night out and a great way to cap off GalactiCal.

I do not read this board often (I am the subject of multiple pile on threads here on this board- but hopefully that is now water under the bridge and we can all forget about it?) But I heard there was a PWG thread here, so I wanted to read it because PWG is my personal favorite fed. Yeah, when Super Dragon reappeared for the first time in over 3 years, it was insane at PWG last weekend in Reseda!. I always knew Super Dragon would reappear at some point and that is why I included him in the PWG roster I submitted to Jim Steel for the recent PWG rumble on the official board. But I admit I honestly was not expecting a Super Dragon return as early as last weekend at Steen Wolf. You really should order the DVD for this show from which the image of El Generico grabbing the PWG World Championship off of the Legion Hall ceiling only to have the entire ceiling vent the belt was attached to also become detached is one wrestling image that will be permanently entrenched in my memory forever!

Vegas, the ONLY reason anyone on this board was giving you a remotely hard time is because you would remind everyone in your posts that you had signed this guy. There are many of us who have made many signings as well... But I don't think anyone hates you personally or anything. I think the vast majority appreciate your passion and loyalty to the Legends product, which is second to none. You are passionate about your fed and its admirable the time you take with it. I'm sure most would appreciate you posting on the board since this is more of a legends driven board unlike the other and I love to hear others take on the Legends product I would like to even hear some of the stories of you signing guys as well...just not in every post.

Vegas, the ONLY reason anyone on this board was giving you a remotely hard time is because you would remind everyone in your posts that you had signed this guy. Well, I think we have a different definition of "remotely." You guys really trashed the living hell out of me. Yet, I honestly regret making anyone here mad. But now, almost one year later, I have had a few more signings announced and I think I have done a better job of not bringing it up as often since I am now aware that others find it annoying. But enough of the past, I came here because I heard about a PWG thread. Switch-Truth, to answer your question, I think the unexpected return of Super Dragon and El Generico ripping the vent out of the ceiling last weekend at Steen Wolf were definitely the "moments of the year" for PWG. But as an entire show, I would personally probably rank for PWG this year's Kurt Russellreunion II and DDT4 above Steen Wolf (but it was still a really awesome show.) The next PWG show in December should also be really good too as Kevin Steen and the returning Super Dragon challenge the Young Bucks for the PWG World Tag Team Championship in a guerrilla warfare tag match, new PWG World Champion El Generico takes on Dick Togo (from what I understand this will be the final North American stop on Togo's retirement tour) in a non-title match, The Amazing Red vs Roderick Strong, American Wolves vs Super Smash Brothers, Kenny King vs TJ Perkins, an 8 wrestler tag match, and more.

If the ceiling vent doesn't come down, how much does that lower the greatness of the show?

If the ceiling vent doesn't come down, how much does that lower the greatness of the show? Not much at all IMO. It was a great unforgettable moment, but the match itself was still incredible leading up to that ending and that was even before Super Dragon reappeared. At one point earlier in the night (I think it was during the match between Future Shock and the Young Bucks?,) the lights in the Legion Hall flickered before they later flickered again and then went out at the end of the ladder match as seen in the clip above. I guess they were testing it for later in the show for Super Dragon's dramatic return?

Just ordered this and Memphis Heat from Highspots, they should be here on Tuesday. Here's a video preview of Steen Wolf.
Two words come to mind watching that: Holy shit.

I got my DVD copy of Steen Wolf last weekend at PWG.
I have not watched it yet, hopefully in the next few days though now that my Winter Break has started.
Switchfoot, I know you like Eddie Edwards, what other PWG wrestlers do you like too?

Switchfoot, I know you like Eddie Edwards, what other PWG wrestlers do you like too? I like Kevin Steen, El Generico, Roderick Strong, Austin Aries, Chris Hero, Future Shock (O'Reilly and Cole), Super Dragon, Johnny Yuma and Willie Mack. Also, Vegas, I've been meaning to find a way to contact you because I want to know: Which PWG shows from this year are worth a pass?

Also, Vegas, I've been meaning to find a way to contact you because I want to know: Which PWG shows from this year are worth a pass? Well, although I honestly don't think PWG had a bad show in all of 2011, here is a list of my favorite PWG shows along with a brief review of them: For PWG in 2011, in addition to Steen Wolf, I would highly recommend 1)Kurt Russellreunion II some of the matches include: PWG World Champion Claudio Castagnoli vs El Generico Kevin Steen vs Chris Hero Davey Richards vs Low Ki a rumble involving alot of the WrestleReunion 5 wrestlers including a great showdown between Roddy Piper and Terry Funk (but unfortunately alot of the commentary by Excalibur and Colt Cabana is inaudible during the rumble due to the way they handle the entrance music for each of the participants when they enter the rumble every minute or so) Jake the Snake Roberts "retirement" match (I think he has already wrestled against since?) Mr. Águila vs. Rey Bucanero a 4 way tag match that includes a dramatic appearance by Steen at the end and more matches too a great show, but I remember the crowd (many of whom had been up since at least 8:00 AM for the first Wrestle Reunion deluxe photo ops in that same room at the hotel) seemed somewhat dead toward the end as the last match finished at almost 1:30 in the morning. But overall, while Steen Wolf had my favorite PWG moments of 2011 (the return of Super Dragon plus El Generico winning the title by pulling it and the vent it was attached to out of the ceiling,) from start to finish Kurt Russellreunion was quite possibly my personal favorite PWG show of 2011. 2) DDT4 I am admittedly a really big tag team fan, but this was still IMO definitely one of the top PWG shows of 2011. The match between the Young Bucks and Kevin Steen/Akira Tozawa was one of my favorite PWG matches of the year (along with the ladder match from Steen Wolf and the guerrilla warfare match last weekend between the Young Bucks and Steen/Super Dragon.) DDT4 2011 also marks the PWG debut of Eddie Edwards as the American Wolves wrestled the RockNES Monsters in the first round of the tournament. 3) Eight Although the card had to be changed due to Davey Richards being hospitalized the night before with a staph infection and Low Ki not making his PWG scheduled appearance for the second time in 2011, it was nevertheless a great show with Kevin Steen once again living up to his "Mr. Wrestling" nick name by wrestling in 3 different matches that night. PAC (wrestling against Steen) made his first PWG appearance in years and CIMA also made a guest appearance teaming up with Steen against the Young Bucks (Steen vs the Young Bucks was the top PWG feud of 2011 IMO.) Some other matches included El Generico and Ricochet vs Alex Shelley and Roderick Strong and Chris Hero vs PWG World Champion Claudio Castagnoli with a surprise match at the end which caused the biggest reaction of the year by the PWG crowd (until of course Super Dragon returned at Steen Wolf.) 4) Battle of Los Angeles 2011 Although the format of the tournament was reduced from 2 days to 1 day, BOLA was still alot of fun as always. The 8 competitors were PWG World Champion Kevin Steen, El Generico, Eddie Edwards, Chris Hero, Claudio Castagnoli, Roderick Strong, Willie Mack, and Dave Finlay who was making a guest appearance for PWG. This show also marked the final appearance of Claudio Castagnoli and (at least believed at the time until he surprisingly reappeared at PWG while awaiting word from the WWE) Chris Hero who (in addition to their tournament matches) in a non-tournament match wrestled the Young Bucks in an impromptu matchup that hadn't happened yet in PWG. 5) Fear (once it is available for purchase- probably before or by Wrestle Reunion 6 in January) - the first wrestling appearance by Super Dragon in years. Standing room only crowd- except for Seven, I have never seen the Legion Hall so packed. In his final North American stop on his current retirement tour, Dick Togo wrestled against PWG World Champion El Generico in a non-title match and the Amazing Red made his PWG debut against Roderick Strong. Future Shock (who had an awesome match against the Young Bucks in their PWG debuts at Steen Wolf) and the Super Smash Brothers each made their second appearances for PWG and wrested against the RockNES Monsters and the American Wolves respectively. Hopefully I didn't type too much here, PWG is just one of my favorite subjects to discuss.

I heard Togo/Generico from Fear was really awesome. I was thinking either BOLA 2011 or Perils of Rock 'n Roll Decadence for my next order. Might go with BOLA or RussellReunion.
How was Finlay/Steen from BOLA? I have literally seen no reviews for the show anywhere.

How was Finlay/Steen from BOLA? I have literally seen no reviews for the show anywhere. Finlay/Steen at BOLA was good. I remember seeing another match with Finlay on IPPV (against Sami Callahan at Evolve) earlier that month and thinking Finlay's PWG match against Steen was better- but then again I was in attendance for the Steen/Finlay match and perhaps that experience causes me to overrate it slightly? Overall BOLA was great and well worth getting, but no MOTY candidates IMO like Chris Hero/Akira Tozawa from last year's BOLA. You mentioned the Perils of Rock N'Roll Decadence and it was another good show. In particular, I really liked the matchup between Eddie Edwards and TJ Perkins (who last weekend actually just agreed to terms to wrestle regularly here for the local Las Vegas fed Future Stars of Wrestling.) The main event of Davey Richards vs Kevin Steen started off pretty intense when Steen arrived first in the ring and said it is now time to bring out "Jim Cornette's wet dream" (but I personally do like Davey Richards.) But that match live was sort of messed with due to a couple of extremely drunk fans sitting on the opposite side of the ring from me in the crowd (at PWG, the beer is actually available in pitchers and sometimes some of the fans tend to over drink heavily.) For example, during the match, one of those idiots actually tried to start up a "Where's Chris Hero?" chant and in response was serenaded with chants of "Shut the fuck up." It got so bad at one point Steen actually climbed the ropes to tell the fan "there is the front door" and the crowd chanted "there is the front door" hoping the fan would get the message and leave. But I did also later see the show on DVD and thankfully they did a good job editing out alot of the fans interference and Steen/Richards still had a good match despite those fans. Speaking of Finlay, since he is currently taking Indy bookings and ROH often brings in someone (i.e. Dave Taylor, Awesome Kong, Balls Mahoney) for their IPPVs, at first I was wondering if perhaps Finlay might be the mystery opponent for Roderick Strong. But I don't think so as ROH is already bringing in Dan Severn for this show. And after seeing Chris Hero made a surprise appearance last weekend at PWG, I think Strong's unknown opponent might be either Hero or perhaps more likely a retiring Nigel McGuinness (Nigel is doing a retirement tour and no ROH shows for it?- no way IMO that Nigel does not wrestle one last time for ROH.)
