He refused to take a paycut.
Seriously? WTF, if there's one person you don't fuck around with in TNA like that it's AJ Styles.
That really seems like gameover for them.
So what do you think. Does Styles go to Japan? Does he make the usual circuit of indies? Would Sinclair spend the money to add some badly needed star power to RoH?

- Nobody in Japan wants AJ except Wrestle-1 and let's be honest here...that's way less money than TNA. - He costs too much for most indies to book him. - I doubt Sinclair would be willing to pay his asking price.

I think Sinclair should consider signing him. He's declined due to age but they really need someone with name value.

I see this as a sign that TNA is dead though. I think it's ridiculous asking Styles to take a pay cut. He's been there from day 1. He's been loyal and he's one of the few guys that fans have legit good feelings towards. Just a stupid all around move for them.

At least not enough of one to justify signing him. I see this as a sign that TNA is dead though. I think it's ridiculous asking Styles to take a pay cut. He's been there from day 1. He's been loyal and he's one of the few guys that fans have legit good feelings towards. Just a stupid all around move for them. They might be letting Jeff Hardy go, too. My question is this: Why not fire Sting and Angle and keep around the two guys who aren't (so much) liabilities who are draws and can have good matches?

That would make sense. They've been convinced since Angle got there that he's somehow their savior. They'll ride that promotion right into hell on Angle's back.

Shit, I think Bully Ray has even shown more ability to draw for TNA than Angle or Sting have lately.

Then again he and Russo (Angle indirectly, mind you) were pretty much solely responsible for what happened to Joe. Shit, I think Bully Ray has even shown more ability to draw for TNA than Angle or Sting have lately. He's also far less of an embarrassment to pro wrestling than those two have been lately. Figure THAT out.

Angle was useful for about 2 years but it's clear that he hasn't been the answer for a really long time.
I just don't get how this company got 10,000 into an event in April and they've fucked their promotion up so badly in a record amount of time. I mean god damned Magnus is their Heavyweight Champion right now!

Angle was useful for about 2 years but it's clear that he hasn't been the answer for a really long time. Well....TNA. I just don't get how this company got 10,000 into an event in April and they've fucked their promotion up so badly in a record amount of time. I mean god damned Magnus is their Heavyweight Champion right now! It was March and they gave away like 5,500 tickets or something like that. IT was their highest paid gate ever but the papered the shit out of that show. Magnus is hilarious because he got the shove because he was dating Mickie James and was over in the UK and Angle, Sting, Jeff Hardy and Bully Ray jacked off to him because HE'S THE FUTURE except he's not, and then they stopped using her, she dumped him and now he's on top of the company because what else are you gonna do with him? Well, I mean fire him or send him to Wrestle-1, put him in the ring with Takayama and tell BIG HAWTNESS that Magnus said some unpleasant shit and let the games begin. June 19, 2002 first ever TNA match: Jorge Estrada, Sonny Siaki and Jimmy Yang beat AJ Styles, Jerry Lynn and Low Ki Low Ki is the guy I miss the most out of everyone in that match except Sonny Siaki but he works at UPS now.

Siaki really fell apart at the end there. He was fucking garbage in DSW and FCW after TNA. It's like he lost his confidence and never got it back.

Styles isn't getting signed to any deals near what TNA was paying him. He simply has no name value with anyone besides the TNA audience, and that's a niche crowd. His ring work and athleticism aren't enough to carry him anymore because there are a dozen guys who are younger who can do what he does, and will do it for less money. If he'd have gotten out of TNA five years ago he could have had a better chance of success. He'll get plenty of bookings here and in the UK, but there is virtually no chance a major company is going to make the investment in him at this point.

Going back to Angle. People love hating on Jarrett but he was never the liability that Angle turned into.

TNA Wrestling superstar AJ Styles’ contract with the company is due to expire next Monday, meaning that as of December 17th, Styles will be a free agent and will be leaving the company that he helped to build alongside other TNA originals for the first time since it was founded back in 2002.
Styles and TNA Wrestling are said to be far apart when it comes to contract issues and Styles has already began to accept independent wrestling bookings via his long-time agent and good friend Bill Behrens at Showbis@aol.com, so he won’t be out of the spotlight in that sense.
Styles finished up with the company during last week’s TNA Wrestling tapings in Orlando, Florida with his final appearance on screen airing in the early weeks of January.
