Carolina Championship Wrestling7/6/10 Live from the Bi-Lo Center in Greenville, SC [glow=yellow,2,300]CCW Heavyweight Championship Tournament[/glow] This card was shown throughout the Carolina's as a special presentation on FOX Sports SouthTournament Match-Ups: Round #1:- Raven vs. Rhino
- Sid Vicious vs. Tully Blanchard
- Arn Anderson vs. Don Muraco
- Terry Taylor vs. Austin Idol
Bout #1: Raven vs. Rhino - These two former ECW stars locked horns here in their debut matches here in CCW. The fans of CCW were excited to see these two hardcore heroes do battle. They were not disappointed, as both men hit the ring swinging! The action spilled out to the floor, as the ref was desperate to get the men back in the ring. Raven used the ring-bell's hammer to gouge Rhino in the head. Rhino fired Raven into the post and drew blood on the flock's leader. The ref was able to force Raven back into the ring, with Rhino holding his eye as he rolled in. Raven kicked the War Machine in the groin and then nailed his Evenflow DDT for the win at 6:35. The fans were red-hot for this match, even though it was not a wrestling classic. Bout #2: Sid Vicious vs. Tully Blanchard - These two former horsemen moved slow to start the match. Tully was weary of Sid's power and Sid did not want to let Tully get in his dirty tricks. Tully finally went to work by thumbing Sid in the eye. He then started working on the big man's knee. Sid was able to clear his eye and started hammering Tully with huge forearms. Sid then went to work on pounding the snot out of the second generation star. Sid nailed his Powerbomb at 8:19 to score the win. Bout #3: Arn Anderson vs. Don Muraco - Arn was hoping for a better result than his tag team partner, as he faced the large Hawaiian powerhouse. Arn is a true technical master, as he used his classic Anderson isolation system to work on Muraco's shoulder. Anderson used the turnbuckle abuse the shoulder further. Don was able to turn the tables on Arn as he went for a whip into the turnbuckle and, even though his shoulder was killing him, he never looked back. Don was finally able to nail The Enforcer with his Hawaiian Hammer at 13:33. Before the last match of the first could start, Sam Houston came out to the ring. "I don't know why they decided that these ham-and-eggers should be in this here tournament! I deserve to be in it more than those two losers in the first match. HECK! Terry Taylor ain't nuthin' but a pretty boy!" Terry Taylor comes out of the back and starts jawing with Houston. Houston started to push Taylor, but Terry shoved him back. The ref ran out to stop these two so the match could start. As the ref was pulling Terry, Sam Houston nailed Terry with a big right hand, that drew blood from Terry's nose. Austin Idol raced out to the ring, as Houston bailed out. Bout #4: Terry Taylor vs. Austin Idol - Idol took advantage of Terry's bloody nose, as he hit a big clothesline and then a piledriver. He locked on the La$ Vega$ Leglock to take the win at 1:03. Idol signaled for Houston to get in the ring. Houston gave Idol a high-five and as he turned to taunt Taylor, Idol clotheslined him from behind. He then gave him a power bodyslam and dropped a leg across his throat. Idol grabbed the house mic. "Listen, you sack of garbage...I don't need anything from you. I am The Universal Heartthrob. I am the solid gold king. I am money in the bank! What makes you think that I need you to get in my business? You are nothing but a joke. You ain't even worth a dollar! Now, I need to get ready for my next match." Round #2:Bout #5: Raven vs. Sid Vicious - If Raven's opening match was violent, then this second round match-up was beyond violent. Raven and Sid battled in and out of the ring. Raven cut his head and started bleeding badly. Sid was covered in Raven's blood, as he smashed Raven's head into the ringside table. Raven went under the ring, but Sid caught his foot and dragged him out. Raven was dragged out with a chair. Sid eat a huge chair shot and both men were battered and bloody. Sid and Raven eventually ended up back in the ring. Sid choked Raven with his cobra clutch, but Raven was able to escape and hit the ropes. Sid nailed his big boot to the face for the win at 23:16. Bout #6: Don Muraco vs. Austin Idol - Another great match, as both want to be the first champion. Idol had an easy first round match-up, but Muraco was not willing to lie down. This was a great back and forth match, but in the end Idol nailed a big clothesline for the win at 16:58. Non-Tournament Match: Bout #7: The Fantastics vs. Elix Skipper & Orlando Jordan - A good tag team match to break up the singles tournament and to give Sid and Idol a chance to get ready for their match. The Fantastics looked smooth, as usual and they had Jordan in trouble. He made the hot tag to Elix and that allowed Primetime to nail Bobby with a cross-body block over the top ropes. Both men landed hard and awkwardly. Elix slid in at 9, but Bobby could not answer the count. Elix and Orlando won via COR at 7:36. Round #3: FinalsBout #8: Sid Vicious vs. Austin Idol - Both men came in to this match with injuries, but neither showed any signs of slowing down. Near falls through out, as both men tried everything they could to win. At the end, both men collided for a double clothesline. As Sid was trying to get up, Idol seized the opportunity to lock on his La$ Vega$ Leglock at 27:48 to take the championship.

Raven and Rhino never let either Karl or Kurt get off any offense. Rhino nailed Karl with a GORE!, while Raven nailed Kurt with his Evenflow DDT for the win at 8:01. Bout #3: Elix Skipper vs. Virgil - Skipper took the former nWo member too lightly at first, as Virgil came out swinging. Virgil nearly scored the pin fall, but Skipper escaped. Elix turned the tables on Virgil and was able use his Play of the Day to win at 13:28. Bout #4: CCW Heavyweight Championship Match Sid Vicious vs. Austin Idol (c) - This match picked up where their tournament final left off. They pounded on each other, spilling out to the arena floor. Terry Taylor stormed out of the back and attacked Austin Idol. The ref called for the DQ at 6:19, awarding the match to the champion. Sid's eyes started to bug out of his head and he grabbed Taylor by the throat. Sid Powerbombed Taylor on the arena floor, as Idol grabbed his belt and hit the bricks. Taylor was laid out on the floor, as Brian Pillman came out to the ring. The ref started to tell Brian that they can't start his match with Terry Taylor because of what happened. Brian pushed past the ref and dragged Taylor into the ring. The ref would not call for the bell. Brian argued with the ref, as Terry tried to get to his feet. Brian screamed for the bell, but the ref was too busy checking on Taylor. Taylor finally got to his feet and the match could start.Bout #5: Brian Pillman vs. Terry Taylor - Pillman never let Terry get any offense in, as he took advantage of Taylor's bad idea during the previous match. Pillman nailed his Top Rope Clothesline at 5:47 to take the win. Bout #6: Nigel McGuinness vs. Don Muraco - Nigel's debut match here in CCW is no push over. Muraco knows that he has the power advantage, but so does Nigel, who made sure not to play into it. Nigel used his superior wrestling skill to hurt the knees and neck of the big man. Muraco battled back, hammering on Nigel, but McGuinness was able to hit the ropes and nail his Jawbreaker Lariat at 11:33 to take the win. Main EventBout #7: The New Age Outlaws vs. The Brainbusters - This was a great tag team war. Old school tag team action, as both teams showed why they are among the greatest tag teams of all time. Bout #3: Nigel McGuinness vs. Steve Keirn - Nigel made his CCW debut at Thursday's TV taping and got a warm welcome from the fans. The Spartanburg crowd was happy to see the spiked-hair attack as well. Steve, who has always been a solid tag team wrestler, was over matched against Nigel, as a Jawbreaker Lariat spelled the end at 10:01. Bout #4: Virgil vs. Sid Vicious - Sid is still upset because his title shot was ruined and he took it out on Virgil. Sid pounded him down into the mat and nailed his Powerbomb at 3:55 for the win. Bout #5: CCW Heavyweight Championship Match Terry Taylor vs. Austin Idol (c) - Taylor, who interrupted the title match Thursday, knew that he had this opportunity to face Idol today. That may explain why he was willing to take the abuse Thursday. Idol went at the blond-haired grappler. Idol was not able to completely dominate, but he never let Terry really get in an solid offense. Idol use his La$ Vega$ Leglock to retain the gold at 13:07. Bout #6: Don Muraco vs. Brian Pillman - The size difference that was the advantage that Muraco used to win here this afternoon. Don sustained the early offense by Pillman and then used his Hawaiian Hammer at 9:01 to win. Bout #7: Rhino vs. Kurt von Brauner - The former ECW champion nailed Kurt at the bell and destroyed him. Rhino nailed his GORE! at 4:50 to take the win. Bout #8: Orlando Jordan vs. Raven - Jordan and Raven had very different ideas of how to approach the match. Jordan used his Blackout at 3:01 to take the win. Bout #2: Virgil vs. Raven - Virgil tried to use his {relative} speed advantage to keep Raven reeling, but Raven's years of hardcore ring knowledge stopped that ploy and turned thing to the former ECW champion's advantage. Raven nailed his Evenflow DDT for the win at 6:14. Bout #3: The Von Braunner Brothers vs. The New Age Outlaws - It took some doing, but the Roadd Dogg was able to use his Pumphandle Slam on Kurt for the win at 11:16. Bout #5: Sid Vicious vs. Terry Taylor - The bad blood has been boiling inside Sid came exploding out as soon as Terry hit the ring. Sid pounded on Terry, causing the him to seek refuge outside the ring. Sid went out after him, as Terry was able to clip the big man's knee and knock him off the ring. Sid landed awkwardly and was in pain. He was grabbing his knee. Terry took advantage of this, continually breaking the count, and working on Sid's hurt knee. When Terry finally dragged Sid, by his hair, into the ring, the crowd was in a fever pitch, spewing hatred at Taylor. Terry was strutting around the ring, feeling good about himself. He went to finish off Sid, but was caught around the throat with a huge hand. Sid got to his feet, showing no signs of damage to his knee, and choke slammed Taylor. As the crowd roared, Sid delivered a Powerbomb to take the win at 17:40. Advertised Main EventBout #6: The Fantastics vs. The Brainbusters - This tag team match-up has split the crowd. The Fantastics drew in the younger fans and a good amount of the ladies in the crowd. The former Horsemen had the support the majority of the men in the crowd. The heat from the last match carried over into the main event. The action was back and forth, with both teams looking at the top of their games. The Fantastics used great double team moves, but Arn and Tully have been around the block a few times. In the end, Arn nailed his Gourdbuster on Rogers for the win at 34:07. The fans were all very happy after the show and the talk, on the way out, was about this Thursday's TV taping at the Mays Arena.

Sid starts in on the mic. -Sid wanted to know why he was passed over for the title shot tonight against Idol. Idol comes through the curtain and powers to the ring. Sid and Austin go eye-to-eye mid-ring. Idol informs Sid that he was not given the title shot because no one on the championship committee feels that he is the number one contender. Sid's eyes are starting to grow very large, but Idol looks cocky. Idol tells Sid that it will be a long time before he ever gets another shot, because Idol has the booker's ear. Idol puts his finger in the middle of Sid's chest and calls the big man a loser. As the fans were shocked by Idol's apparent death-wish, Don Muraco comes out of nowhere and nails Sid with a huge blast. Idol and Muraco (who are opponents tonight) start pounding on Sid. Sid goes down, as Muraco stomps on the inside of his right knee. Idol grabs the mic and says that if Sid wants a title match so bad, then all he needs to do is beat Muraco...right now! A ref slides into the ring and we have an impromptu match. Bout #2: Winner Gets A Shot at CCW Heavyweight Title Sid Vicious vs. Don Muraco - Muraco stomped on the downed Sid, but Vicious was not staying down. Idol is at ringside, giving Muraco support and getting on the ref about not counting faster after a piledriver by Don. Sid was limping from the attack, but he battled back to his feet. Idol and Muraco walked out together, as Nigel went to help Sid up. Sid shoved him away and looked furious. Sid staggered along the ramp and to the EMTs waiting on him. Nigel looks pissed, but then smirks, as it seems he has a plan. Bout #4: Kurt von Brauner vs. Orlando Jordan - Jordan looked impressive here again, as he used his Blackout at 7:16. Bout #6: Return Match from Last Week Brian Pillman vs. Elix Skipper - These two superstars nearly stole the show last week and they locked horns again here this week. Another great match, as they both showed some great offense. Elix was going for his Play of the Day, as the bell rang. The ref declared the match to be a 20-minute time limit draw. Both men look frustrated, as for the second week in a row they ran out of time. The fans appreciated the great work and gave both men a nice ovation. -- CCW Tag Team Championship Tournament Announcement -- The last two teams to be entered into the tournament are: - Raven & Rhino

The War Machine nearly cut Karl in two with his GORE! at 5:15 for the win. - Austin Idol walks out to the ring, with his CCW Championship over his shoulder. He takes the mic and informs the crowd that this was such an easy night. He said that Muraco did his job admirably and was well compensated for his work. Idol looked really cocky and then told the fans that he is sorry that their main event was ruined...but it was not his fault. He blamed it all on "that loser" Sid. As Idol was having a good laugh to himself about this situation, he was interrupted by Nigel McGuinness. Nigel had a contract in one hand and a mic in the other. Nigel informed Austin that the main event was not ruined, just altered. And that main event is right now! Main EventBout #9: CCW Heavyweight Championship Match Nigel McGuinness vs. Austin Idol (c) - The fans came unglued, as Nigel gets the title shot here tonight.
