Mike Quackenbush Great Sasuke came into the match looking to get a win in front of the home crowd in the AWA Lt Heavyweight Showcase. At first, Quackenbush took the match to Sasuke and got several nearfalls with his Quackendriver. Sasuke drops Quackenbush over the top rope with a stun gun to gain control of the match. Sasuke would go on to dominate the rest of the match and put Quackenbush away with the Thunder Fire Powerbomb. 3. AWA Lt Heavyweight Showcase: Davey Boy Smith def. Denny Brown SLWC’s Denny Brown put up a great fight but Davey Boy Smith was too much for him. Smith nails his Running Power Slam for the win. 4. AWA Lt Heavyweight Showcase: Great Muta def. Steve Keirn In a dominating performance, Muta quickly dispatches Keirn with 2 consecutive Moonsaults. The crowd was in awe of Muta who spit his trademark green mist after the match. 5. ‘Cowboy’ Bill Watts dq Ray StevensThe big Cowboy got early control after Stevens missed a turnbuckle charge. Watts hit the Oklahoma Stampede but Pat Patterson was quick to interfere and booted Watts with his boot. The two work over Watts until Rick Martel chases away Patterson/Stevens. 6. Rick Martel def. Pat PattersonThese two battled to a thrilling 30-minute time limit draw last week. Sam Munchnick later decreed the winner of this match is to go on to face Nick Bockwinkel for a shot at the AWA US title. Martel seemed more determined to win the match as he overcame several miscues to put Patterson to sleep with the Sleeper. Not the classic that they had last week but still a good match overall. Martel goes on to face Nick Bockwinkel for a shot at the AWA US championship. 7. Akira Hokuto def. Devil Masami to retain International Women’s titleGreat match that had the crowd on the edge of their seats. Masami hit Hokuto with a ‘loaded’ flying forearm after whipping Hokuto into the ropes. Randy OrtonRandy Orton was booed from his hometown crowd after telling them he was only born here and doesn’t consider St Louis his home. Orton used a cheap shot to get early control but Bruno is soon in firm control; using his power advantage to toss Orton around. Bruno starts working on Orton’s back with his power forearm shots and hammers to the back. Orton survives the Backbreaker but is soon locked in Bruno’s powerful Bearhug. Orton holds out but eventually submits as the crowd taunts him over the loss.

SLWC House Show Show Me Center; SE Missouri Univ Campus Cape Girardeau, Mo; 24 Mar 2009 -SLWC ventures away from St Louis for its first ever house show. The show is perhaps one of the most important shows SLWC has done. 1. AWA Lt Heavyweight Showcase: Jinsei Shinzaki def. Dynamite Kid One of the biggest upsets of the Showcase happens. Shinzaki takes advantage of Dynamite Kid showboating for the fans during a deathjump attempt and dropkicks him to the floor. Kid crashes into the security railing and looked to be out. Shinzaki is quick to roll Kid back in the ring and lands his Nenbutsu Powerbomb for the win. 2. AWA Lt Heavyweight Showcase: Black Tiger def. Sabu Sabu seemed to be off his game in this match as he twice missed the Triple Jump Moonsault. Black Tiger capitalized as he wore Sabu down with his Reverse Elbow Drops before finally landing the Tombstone Piledriver to prevail. 3. AWA Lt Heavyweight Showcase: Jushin Liger def. Tiger Mask The fans were amazed at these two Japanese superstars. However, it was Jushin Liger who dominated the match. Liger used his variety of finishers to keep Tiger Mask at bay and wear him down. Tiger Mask wasn’t able to get any momentum going as Liger connects with a top rope hurricanrana to pick up the win. 4. Jesse Ventura def. Larry ZbyszkoThe Missouri State champ comes out and complains about having to wrestle in Podunk Missouri. Zbyszko takes it to the champ early on and seems on the verge of victory after landing the Piledriver. However, Rikidozan makes a timely distraction which allowed Ventura to lock on the Body Breaker. As the ref was asking Zbyszko if he was down, Dozan threw a towel in the ring. The ref sees the towel and gives Ventura the win. The two continue the beat on Zbyszko afterwards until Bruno Sammartino runs in to make the save. 5. Nick Bockwinkel def. Rick Martel to earn a AWA US title shotIn what should have been a great bout, turned into the Bobby Heenan distraction show. Heenan stuck his nose in the match liberally to keep Bockwinkel in control. Martel had Bock trapped in the Sleeper until Heenan distracted the ref allowing Bock to somehow blast Martel in the gut with a pair of brass knuckles. Martel falls to the floor and gets posted twice by Bockwinkel. Back in the ring, Bock locks in his version of the Sleeper to win the match. 6. In the main event, Bruno Sammartino def. Brett HartThe LWA World’s champ versus the AWA US champ. Bruno is looking for revenge after Brett Hart’s US title shenanigans two months ago in St Louis. It’s been claimed privately that Brett Hart has been ducking Bruno’s request for a title rematch. Brett Hart started the match by catching Bruno with a Hitman’s Flying Clothesline for a nearfall. Hart continues the attack and soon Bruno is locked in the Sharpshooter. Bruno is able to make the ropes to break the hold. Bruno starts to take over with his power moves and eventually has Hart on the run. Hart decides he’s had enough and heads towards the back where he’s stopped by Nick Bockwinkel. Bockwinkel chases Hart back to the ringside area where Bruno is waiting. Bruno crushes Hart with the Backbreaker before sinking in the Bearhug for the submission win. -Afterwards, Nick Bockwinkel grabs the AWA US belt from ringside and shoves it in Brett Hart’s chest. Bockwinkel tells Hart ’that belt is mine on Thursday night’ before leaving the ring.

SLWC presents ‘Wrestling At The Chase’ Chase-Plaza Hotel; St Louis, Mo; 26 Mar 2009 -Nick Bockwinkel and Bobby Heenan come out to start the show with a little message for Bison Smith. Heenan says that Bockwinkel is a wrestler first…something Bison Smith knows nothing about…but knows how to handle himself around a pair of brass knuckles. Bockwinkel lets Smith in on a little secret…that being, Bockwinkel is a legend in this sport and Smith is a never was and a never will be. But first, Bockwinkel takes that AWA US title from that Canadian grease ball, Brett Hart. 1. ‘Crusher’ Jerry Blackwell def. Sandy BarrCrusher Blackwell used his size to keep Sandy Barr down. Barr did have some offensive flourishes but gets ‘crushed’ by Blackwell’s Big Splash to end it. 2. AWA Lt Heavyweight Showcase: Jushin Liger def. Black Tiger Great match that had 7 nearfall attempts between the two. It looked as if Black Tiger was going to eek out a win but Liger was able to reverse a Tombstone Piledriver into one of his own for the win. 3. AWA Lt Heavyweight Showcase: Jinsei Shinzaki def. Sabu Quick match that saw Sabu miss a deathjump allowing Shinzaki to capitalize. Shinzaki hit’s a diving headbutt before putting Sabu away with the Nenbutsu Powerbomb. 4. AWA Lt Heavyweight Showcase: Tiger Mask def. Dynamite Kid In a renewal of their old rivalry, it was all Tiger Mask in this one. Tiger Mask hit’s a high cross body for a nearfall before putting Dynamite Kid away with the Tiger Suplex 5. Ray Stevens/Pat Patterson def. Bill Watts/Jim Londos A great tag battle that saw Stevens/Patterson cheat to maintain their advantage. A wild brawl breaks out giving Patterson the chance to blast Londos with a foreign object to pick up the win for his team. 6. Gorgeous George dq Len RossiThe two battle all over the ring and at ringside until a frustrated Rossi slams a steel chair across Georgie’s head causing the dq. Cherie Dupre covers her man to prevent anymore damage. 7. Sgt Slaughter dq Eric the RedIn what was suppose to be tune-ups matches for Slaughter against Eric this month, has turned into a nightmare for Sarge. Slaughter has been winning the battles but not the war as Eric has bloodied Sarge at every occasion. This one was no different as Sarge gets another dq win after Eric blatantly batters Sarge with his bone. Slaughter is again a bloody mess as Eric keeps up the attack until security can pry him off Slaughter. 8. Rikidozan def. Larry ZbyszkoSam Munchnick has decreed that this match will end their feud but both parties haven’t called off the hostilities. The match was a brutal slugfest but Rikidozan’s interpreter would get involved every time Larry gained the upperhand. Dozan uses a foreign object to put Larry down and then locks in the Hiplock to get the win. Afterwards, Dozan continues the attack with his interpreter asking Larry where his mentor Bruno Sammartino was. Antonio Rocca would run down to drive off the heels and help Zbyszko to the back. 9. Special Attraction: Triple H def. Antonio RoccaA battle of a Hall of Famer versus a future Hall of Famer. Triple H was able to wear Rocca down with his Pedigree set-up moves. Triple H takes the match to the floor and continues to batter Rocca. Back in the ring, Rocca is able to mount a comeback but a Triple H clothesline puts Rocca down for good. 10. Jesse Ventura def. Don Leo Jonathan to retain the Missouri titleDLJ started the match on fire and it looked like Ventura’s title reign would be a quick one. Somehow, Ventura is able to climb back into the match and gain solid control over the match. Ventura uses his power moves to weaken DLJ and locks in the Body Breaker for the finish. 11. Main Event: Nick Bockwinkel def. Brett Hart to win the AWA US titleA great rivalry reborn and both put on a 5-star classic match. No one could keep momentum early in the contest but Hart did get a quick roll-up attempt but Bock easily kicked out. The two settled down into a war; both looking for that one mistake to give himself the edge. Bockwinkel was first to capitalize on a missed turnbuckle charge and locked in the Bockwinkel Sleeper. Hart faded but managed to back Bockwinkel into the corner to break the hold. Hart took this chance to take a powder and head back to the locker room but Bock was able to catch up with him and bring Hart back to the ring. Bockwinkel got on the house mike and told Hart it wouldn’t be that easy to escape St Louis with that belt. Brett used this momentary distraction to flatten Bockwinkel with a Hitman’s flying clothesline for a very close nearfall. Brett tosses Bockwinkel to the floor and locks in a figure four around the ringpost. The ref is finally able to pry Brett loose. Back in the ring, Brett starts looking for the Sharpshooter. Once, Brett locks it on Bock looks to be in very serious trouble. Bobby Heenan jumps on the ring apron to which Hart releases the hold and grabs Heenan. Bock catches Brett with a knee to the back that causes Brett to crash into Heenan. Brett staggers back into the Bockwinkel Sleeper. This time the hold is right in the middle of the ring as Brett fights the hold for all he’s worth. Brett continues fighting but soon he’s looks limp in Bock’s grasp. The ref raises Brett’s arm three times and three times it falls. The ref calls for the bell, awarding Bockwinkel the match and the title. -Afterwards, on this night and this night only, the crowd gives Nick Bockwinkel and Bobby Heenan a standing ovation.

-Former AWA US champion, Nick Bockwinkel and his manager, Bobby Heenan called a press conference today at the Chase Plaza Hotel in St Louis, Mo. Both were not in very good moods coming off Bockwinkel's title loss at the latest AWA PPV on Sunday.
Bobby Heenan lamented the fact that Bret Hart pinned Bockwinkel with a hand full of tights in full view of the biased GNP referee. Heenan stated he knew that they would have problems when they ventured back into the land of misfits and never will be's that is GNP.
Heenan went on to state that a proposed match between Bockwinkel and Bret Hart at the April AWA PPV will not happen. Heenan said that Bockwinkel beat Bret Hart when it mattered for the belt and doesn't have to prove anything to anybody.
Nick Bockwinkel took the podium and re-interated the fact that he was cheated out of the AWA title by the biased GNP ref. Bockwinkel said that Hart should have been disqualified on the spot which would have allowed Bockwinkel to retain the belt as titles do not change hands via disqualifications.
Bockwinkel seemed upset when the fact was mentioned that new AWA champ, Bob Backlund wasn't coming into the area during the month of April. Bockwinkel commented how Bret Hart got an automatic rematch 2 days after losing the belt but Bockwinkel has to wait over a month for the same courtesy. Bockwinkel asked why is the AWA jr champ coming to St Louis when we don't even have a jr heavyweight division or jr title.
Bockwinkel distanced himself by saying that the AWA title has become a farce and the AWA is well on its way to being a farce as well. Bockwinkel stated that it's no longer the American Wrestling Alliance but the American Cheaters Alliance.
Bockwinkel ended the conference by stating that he's focusing his efforts into winning the Missouri State title as Sam Munchnick has done a tremendous job restoring the prestige that surrounds the belt.
-Promoter Sam Munchnick was reached later in the evening for comment but stated Nick Bockwinkel and Bobby Heenan are entitled to their opinions as they see them. As far as Bockwinkel's refusal of a proposed match with Bret Hart, Munchnick stated that it is well within Bockwinkel's right to refuse to participate in the match and the AWA PPV.

-Sam Munchnick held a press conference at the Chase-Plaza Hotel announcing that St Louis Wrestling Club would not be joining the AWA nor would SLWC be staying affiliated with the LWA. Munchnick stated that SLWC would be an independent promotion and that he hopes SLWC can work with both the AWA and LWA.
Munchnick stated the controversies involving the outcomes of both the LWA World's title and the AWA US title this past weekend is partly the reason to withdraw from both the AWA/LWA but other factors exist that equally led to this decision.
Munchnick commented that he had added to his Missouri territory base by purchasing the rights to promote in Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana from SLWC wrestler, 'Cowboy' Bill Watts. Munchnick stated that the promotion would keep it's SLWC moniker but the main singles title will change from the Missouri State title to the Mid-South heavyweight championship. However, Munchnick re-interated that the Missouri State title will be defended when the promotion travelled into the Missouri area. Munchnick stated the Archway tag titles would be changed to the Mid-South tag titles and Jim Cornette's Midnight Express would still be recognized as the champions.
Munchnick brought out Nick Bockwinkel who played out his grievance with the AWA US title situation earlier in the week. Munchnick says he has seen the replays of the match and feels the AWA had a chance to right a wrong but made a mistake in not reversing the decision. Munchnick tells the crowd he feels he must right that wrong and awards the Mid-South title to Nick Bockwinkel.
Munchnick finishes by saying that the promotion changes will go forward after Thursday's 'Wrestling at the Chase' show. He mentions that SLWC has always had great wrestling action and will continue to do so even if the promotions status and territory base has changed.

Bockwinkel tells Backlund he should be ashamed calling himself a champion after not ‘really’ winning the belt. Bockwinkel says even the other AWA promoters know I’m the real champion…just ask them. So Backlund, you can go ahead and keep being the pretender to the throne.
Bockwinkel says just look around, the St Louis Wrestling Club has the best roster in either the AWA or the LWA bar none and everybody knows it. The fans know where the best wrestling in the world is…it’s right here in the SLWC. That’s evidenced by the sold out shows and the extremely high ratings that the SLWC television shows get.
Bockwinkel tells Backlund that he doesn’t want the tarnished AWA belt. The AWA belt isn’t worth it’s weight in pennies. However, if and that’s a big if, Backlund restores the AWA title’s image, Bockwinkel might give him a shot at a real prestigious belt and that’s the Mid-South title.8. Nick Bockwinkel def. Bruno Sammartino/Larry Zbyszko The match was a free-for-all brawl. Bruno and Zbyszko wanted a piece of Rikidozan. Dozan took a beating in the match but kept coming back for more punishment. Dozan dumped Bruno to the floor and the LWA World champ got walloped by Tiger Jeet Singh and his sword hilt. In the ring, Dozan catches Zbyszko off-guard with a low-blow and follows with a piledriver for the win. Afterwards, Zbyszko pushed his mentor away as Bruno tried to help him back to the locker room.
