Yeah. Some awful calls in that game also. Admittedly, Indiana was a team that I didn't want Chicago to see in round one. But now I'm kind of glad they did because now Chicago realizes that the playoffs are a different animal.

Well at least the Pacers won one game. That's probably all we'll get, but at least the Blue and Yellow saw the playoffs this year.

Yeah the Bucks came close and with a really shitty record too. Their roster is a mess right now and the players I don't get along with each other either. Expecting plenty of roster turnover this off season.

New York got smashed by Boston. I know people claim this Melo move was for the future. But I'm a little lost on how. The team is doing the same shit that was killing them in the 00s. Bad contracts, trading draft picks, etc. And now you have Amare and Melo who don't play defense and who can have attitude issues and phone it in. I don't see New York getting a title with that nucleus.

Isiah Thomas really screwed that franchise up for several years. Him thinking he needed 2 really expensive point guards that can't play (Marbury and Francis) was pretty ingenious. The Knicks had a shitload of bad contracts when Thomas too over, and somehow he managed to make it worse!

And the best part is... they brought Isiah back!!!
Bill Simmons had someone on his podcast and they were talking about how New York essentially bid against itself for Melo and reversed the situation from Denver having no leverage to all the leverage. It was really a damning discussion and showed how inept New York is as a franchise.

I did like them bringing over Chauncey Billups. I really like him as a player. But with that trade they basically traded away most of their 1st round draft picks for years and a good portion of their starting line-up. I was surprised they did as well as they did with basically having Billups, Melo and Amari and not a whole lot else. Just a bad precident the NBA has where Melo can openly say that he wants to be traded to the Knicks and if you don't trade me there I am going to leave at the end of the year and sign with them anyways. Just mind boggling how much they gave up to get Melo.

They panicked, really. Melo wasn't going anywhere else, and they could have had him for free in the off season. Why they gave up so much to get him I don't get.
Funny how after the two games in Boston, people where saying the Celtics were done, now they're the only team that swept.

Boston seems to have got that swagger back. I don't see them beating Chicago but I see them showing Miami that you need to be tough in the playoffs next round.

My main question is for the Celtics.......does my love for Ray Allen and Shaq outweigh my hatred for Kevin Garnett? At least Ray Allen getting a ring made Garnett getting one tolerable. And I still have my dream of Lebron never winning a NBA title. Dwayne Wade already has a ring, so I don't have to worry about them not winning another one.

Garnett is an absolute joy to watch... when he's on your side. The passion he has for the game is awesome, but only if he's on your team... I can totally see why others hate him.
@ Maddog: The C's -Bulls series, if it happens (and I really hope it does) will be EPIC. The series two years ago was the best 1st round series ever. In the end though, it'll be very simple... Rose Vs. Rondo. Rondo was terrible during the season, but he was busy having a big head at that time... he seems to be OK now.
My only worry about Miami as a Celtics fan is the officials... Wade and LaBron get ALOT of calls. If Pierce and Garnett get screwed and get into foul trouble, it'll be rough.

At least Garnett seems to be content not being the focal point of the Celtics which I will give him credit for. A lot of people put their egos aside to make Boston a powerhouse. Formulas like that don't always work.

As far as Melo goes, I said it a few pages back that it didn't make sense for NY to trade for him because they could get him as a FA and not lose so much.

The gist of what was said on Simmon's podcast. Walsh was handling it and had a good amount of leverage. The owner got involved and let Isiah Thomas into the situation. So the tables reversed and suddenly Denver had New York by the balls and robbed them blind for a player that they could've gotten.
Now, I think waiting for free agency had it's dangers. Trading was the best option. But they really could've landed him for way cheaper and wouldn't have had to take Billups on. They then went out there and compounded their mistakes by trading for Jared Jeffries right after they finally dumped his horrible contract last year. And really, even Amare's signing was a little silly. No one else was lining up to sign him to a max deal. Sometimes, when you're the only person in line, it should tell you something about what you're about to do.
But the problem is, sounds like Isiah is back in the fold. I think you're going to see them resign Billups for too much money and chase overpriced free agents and be right where they were a few years ago but they'll just have Amare and Melo on the team.
The lesson the Knicks refuse to learn is that first round picks are too valuable to constantly trade. The draft is about cost control. It's how you bring in cheap talent. Once you start trying to build through free agency is when you fall into cap hell. Good teams build through the draft.

Pacers lost something like 116-89 last night. I hope they get the message that this was a Playoffs series against the best team in the league, there's no excuse for playing like it's the opening week of the season.
