Jay Saldi has to rate pretty high on the list of worst commentators ever. I'm not sure it's all his fault though. It doesn't sound like they really smartened him up about things. He sometimes sounds like it would if they just put an average fan with slightly above average public speaking skill behind the mic.

Yeah, he's terrible but I don't think Bill Mercer is great either. World Class is really good at getting the story across without announcers.

I don't mind the announcers.. they're not good, but they're not terrible.. they do a passable job.
Watched the earlier show they put up (with Hayes' first WCCW match)... kinda boring, I have to say... the Flair promo was almost identical (perhaps WAS identical) to the one 3 shows later, and we had jobber on jobber action in a far too long match between the guy in the white mask (don carlos 2 or something) against the Samoan.. who they claimed was related to THE Samoans (which wasn't mentioned whe he teamed with white mask guy against Kabuki).
David Von Erich is FAR superior to Kevin.. I do wonder why every wrestler has long wavy hair though.. no one in the crowd does, so it's not like it was a particular Texas fashion.

That's not a peculiar Texas trend. Wrestling, until recently has always had a disproportionate amount of long haired guys. That only changed a few years ago when the E had Edge and Christian both cut their hair.

Probably wasn't but it was a trend in pro wrestling until, as Havoc mentioned, fairly recently. Also, as best I recall Edge cutting his hair wasn't WWE's call. He did that after he retired.

That Flair promo was the same. They replayed it for KVE and asked for his reaction. I actually thought the Checkmate/Dragon vs. Madril/Lothario match was really fun.

Yeah, that wasn't a bad match, the others were though.
Also, I find the lack of focus on titles to be interesting... they didn't show and barely mentioned the Texas Championship, even those the title holder had a match.

There will be a lot of focus on belts in future episodes.

Watching the episode where Kerry Von Erich returns... King Kong Bundy doing a promo while eating a chicken wing was send in awesomeness only to the clip of Ron Mercer trying to get Ric Flair's secretary to get Flair on the phone... great stuff.

Got through the next couple shows... the Flair -Von Erich match was... kinda bad. They had no chemistry at all. I'm not sure if that was supposed to be a heel turn for Hayes... he helped Flair, yes, but he was doing so by strictly enforcing the rules.
The show before with the Duck Hunting skit was pretty awesome though. I mean, Duck Hunting! I wonder, did that (or anything) ever succeed in winning the Von Erich's any male fans?
Still no sign of any sort of World Class champion.. they mention Flair's NWA title, and a (I believe) pretend 'All-Asia' title that Great Kabuki claims to have, as well as a 'European Title' Checkmate has, but no local belts.
Think I might go back to some 1993 WWF for my next couple shows.

I grew up on WCCW. I can't go back and watch it now. I did too. I keep trying to watch the episodes and they make me want to cry. It's not the WCCW I remember.

I'm not sure if that was supposed to be a heel turn for Hayes... he helped Flair, yes, but he was doing so by strictly enforcing the rules. I thought that's what made the turn so brilliant. Hayes "was just trying to help his friend Kerry," and when Kerry refused it he got ticked off and took it too far the other way. I agree the match isn't that great, and is better remembered for the angle and the fallout. But the build-up to the Freebirds turn and subsequent feud was one of the greatest stories ever booked by a wrestling promotion. It was a 6-month process that involved the likes of Flair, Bundy, Gary Hart, and Kabuki and completely transformed a formerly-sleepy territory.
