Knapik and I were going to split DVD copies of almost every episode of WCCW several years ago but the guy selling it never go back to us. I just don't want to be teased with an episode here and there.

It looks like it's tentatively scheduled as weekly show on the Network. First one doesn't seem like much on the surface, but Checkmate was something to see if you don't remember. Also Bugsy McGraw is on the show. He's one of the great largely forgotten characters of wrestling. The shows that took place a few years after this one are the ones I remember best; coming home from grade school to check out World Class on ESPN. Every once in a while one of these older shows would slip in, presumably when they didn't have a new one ready to go.

If it was the first show and they aired them in order is be all on board.

Checkmate is Tony Charles if I remember correctly. He and Magic Dragon are the real gems of the early episodes.

Watched this today. My first real WCCW exposure and I loved it. Loved seeing Bundy able to move in that brawl.
Also I miss how into it fans used to be back then. Just having a blast. Not hip to what was going in backstage, just having fun. The old lady in the front row. So good. Miss those days.
Looking forward to watching more.

I'd rather see a crowd that's invested in the show than seeing a bunch of smarks chanting stupid shit trying to get themselves over because it was "funny" when that post WrestleMania crowd did it.

I'd rather see a crowd that's invested in the show than seeing a bunch of smarks chanting stupid shit trying to get themselves over because it was "funny" when that post WrestleMania crowd did it. When I was a kid we didn't know or care about a buyrate or a TV rating. People just had fun. This isn't about trying to conceal the difference between athletic entertainment and athletic competition either; it was simply people enjoying the show without pretense. It can never go back to that, but I think people would enjoy themselves more if they didn't try to get so "inside". There's no way back now though, and it's not just a problem in wrestling. It's societal. It's American Idol and 24 hour coverage on gossip websites; it's a jaded entertainment saturated culture and reality TV that makes everyone think they are the star instead of the show (the fan chants to get themselves over and twitter trolling the performers stuff). I think playing shows like World Class is where WWE Network is going to get a lot of lapsed fans back, and I hope the people in charge of the company watch and take a few notes too. Some of the concepts will still work, and what's old can be new again.

One of the best things about going weekly to the Louisville Gardens up until 1996? Those people still believed

The fat Mexican guy with the mullet with his beer and love for Kevin Von Erich was cracking me up. No one beats Beulah in SMW though as far as memorable fans go.

Just watched and signed up... very fun show... I agree with you guys.. the crowd is awesome. I wonder if they picked this particular episode due to all the 'go <insert face wrestler name here> go' chanting? I know WWE loves that stuff (except when it's for Punk). It seems so much more fun and real than today's smarks that just want to get the broadcast to mention them. some comments: They did a great job selling Kabuki as a threat, even though he doesn't look it, and that knee drop move thing is pretty non-impressive. Also, Not-Jimmy-Snuka cracked me up for some reason. Very cool brawl.. I felt bad for Bundy though.. he spent more time pulling up his pants and pulling down his shirt than fighting... he looked WAY thinner than I recall him in WWE though. Gordy was epic. Not sure about the outfit though... I thought HE was Wild Bill at first. Man, the Von Erichs are boring... Kevin looked like he took a wrong turn on his way to gymnastics practice. Even Flair didn't really make me care. Tons of women in that crowd though, so I guess they work fro being cute Bugsy McGraw would have made a great tag team with JYD.. did anyone ever do that? The guy pretending to be Johhny Saint (Checkmate?) was great, too. Fun show..I hope they continue to add more of them as time goes on. From a techincal stand point.. it froze ALOT, but I'm at a conference with crappy internet, so it probably wasn't WWE's fault.

They picked that episode because it starts the build to the Freebirds turn.

Also Kevin Von Erich is probably the worst of the main three Von Erichs.

Also Kevin Von Erich is probably the worst of the main three Von Erichs. He's the best one now. Is it too soon for dead Von Erich jokes? Come to think of it, like 90 % of the WCCW roster is now dead.
