I don't watch Ring of Honor, it's not my particular cup of tea. But I very much want it to succeed, as more and different wrestling is a good thing for the genre. Having said that, who ever in marketing designed that poster should be fired. It's awful. Starting at 12 o'clock, we have a guy who looks like a Men's Warehouse catalog model, generic indy guy (in outfit available for purchase right now on Highspots.com), a barely recognizable Matt Hardy, A guy who, to the un-initiated looks more like a random pro wrestling fan than like a pro wrestler himself, Jay Lethal's junk (highlighted by the fact that the guy standing next to him is wearing a shirt with the word "PACKAGE" in bright yellow), one of those Duck Dynasty guys, and finally... Boobs. All surrounding the words "Best in the World 2014" in a display of perhaps the most mediocre photoshop skills this side of a Junior High computer class. An action shot, perhaps one featuring Cole or AJ, would have been better. This one looks bush league.

The bad part is that's not even the worst poster they've had in the last six months. EDIT:

I have no idea why ROH doesn't reach out to the considerable fan base they have and find someone who knows what the fuck they're doing with Photoshop. They did that with the Supercard of Honor V DVD cover back in 2010 and they had that kid from ThatWrestlingShow doing the hype videos for the iPPV main events. Lagana, for all the negative things I can say about him, was at least good for getting that kid to make awesome hype videos for the iPPVs. I miss those videos, they were very well done and better than any video package SBG era ROH has turned out.
Updated the main post with the matches I was told by a friend in the know. Nothing confirmed, just very well educated guesses given on where the product has headed the past couple of TV tapings. The World Title match has happened several times and is always really good and the tag title match has a ton of potential but again, nothing is confirmed right now.

The thing is, a lot of people would do that shit for free just for the exposure or to see their shit on tv.

Briscoes/Bennett and Hardy confirmed today. I just want to reiterate that you can't find ANYTHING on inDemand or DirecTV's site about this show but they have ordering info for the UFC PPV on July 5th. Someone mentioned this to Court Bauer on Twitter (but they have Comcast as a provider) and Court said as of June 1st everything should be updated and ready to go. We'll see.

That's weasel speak for "I hope you forget about it by then". I doubt Direct TV cares about this show at all.
So what are they even hoping for out of this. Is 3000 buys a win in their eyes?

And that show in it's current format isn't worth the price. They really need to try harder if they want this to be successful. That card reminds me of a thrown together WWE PPV.

That's weasel speak for "I hope you forget about it by then". I doubt Direct TV cares about this show at all. Eh, they care about the TNA One Night Only shows that nobody buys anymore and are pre-taped. They probably care about this show, too...at least on that level. So what are they even hoping for out of this. Is 3000 buys a win in their eyes? They're hoping that the people who are afraid to try out iPPV give this a shot and given what I've seen around the internet, they have a lot of people interested in a show that they don't have to watch on their PC. It's a chance for them to shrug off all the crap they've been plagued by when it comes to PPV and start new. It's the next logical step for them. They'll likely do 3,000 between the PPV and iPPV buys for the show. And 3,000 buys, for the record, is still much higher than the TNA One Night Only PPVs that DirecTV advertises and is actually kind of respectable given the state of pro wrestling in the US. For the record, their UStream Channel is at 35,102 views. The only videos they've ever had on there was the ROH/NJPW trailer and the two iPPVs and the number wasn't anywhere near that number of views until after War of the Worlds. Now, if all of those were paid or not, or how many were repeat views from people who bought the shows (perhaps the more likely scenario)...I have no idea. According to the VOD views (and take note that each show has been taken down and reposted like twice so these numbers are NOT indicative of live views) WAR OF THE WORLDS - 051714 - 1,357 views ROH / NEW JAPAN GLOBAL WARS '14 - 2,494 views So the VOD's done a combined 4,000 views plus whatever the live buys were plus whatever the ROH website buys were from people who ordered there instead of UStream. And that show in it's current format isn't worth the price. They really need to try harder if they want this to be successful. That card reminds me of a thrown together WWE PPV. They've been building Elgin/Cole for months and Briscoes/Hardy and Bennett for months. They're not throwing anything together...yet. I think Daniels and Kazarian signing might have mucked up the plans for Rowe and Hanson vs. reDRagon, which would be a shame because that match would be awesome.

Hey! They updated the poster! Jay Lethal's junk is less prominently featured.

So 3000 buys would be a win for them if they get there.
The main event is fine. I know Kazarian is better but holy shit do I not care about him.
