That seems like a really bad decision on their part. Everyone else is trying to run away from PPV and they are trying to run one? That's also really expensive for an indy show.

The only wrestling promotion 'running away from PPV' is WWE. This isn't a bad decision at all. DirecTV picked them up as they dropped WWE because it's inexpensive and even if it does a low number (see: TNA), DirecTV still makes enough money to justify carrying it and ROH gets reliable PPV coverage. It's also $10 less than TNA is in Standard Definition and it's the same price as a New Japan iPPV.

Yeah, but they did embarrassing numbers when they tried this before with an arguably better product. And they would probably need to do some stupid unattainable number to even break even on the show.

They did embarrassing numbers when they had no television in a COMPLETELY different climate than now. It's like saying Starrcade 87 failed because nobody carried it so Starrcade 92 will fail too. Completely different situations in completely different times. And they likely won't have to do an unattainable number given that TNA almost profited off of Lockdown with a far more expensive roster.

Seems like this might be the best show to have Cole drop the title but the question is to who? Elgin/AJ tomorrow night is apparently for a future title match so I guess the winner of that would make sense but if that's the case---who gets the win? I'd like to think that AJ would get the win and the belt because that's a good way to end the first live PPV, not to mention AJ is by far the biggest name they have right now.

Elgin seems to have lost a lot of his momentum. I think you have to go Styles.

It all depends on who wins at tonight's TV taping. Elgin beating AJ puts him on the right track plus if AJ beats Okada on 5/3 (which is looking very likely at this point), Elgin likely drops the fall to him on 5/17 in the IWGP Title match. That said, it's a tough call. AJ's likely in Osaka on 6/21, the day before the show. IF he's not gonna be able to be in Nashville, Elgin makes as much sense as anyone.

I kind of feel they have to do Styles. Elgin's about a loss too many past being a hot commodity. I feel like they could actually get some positive momentum as a company with AJ as champ.

I saw someone say that AJ winning at this show would kind of be like Terry Funk at Barely Legal. The comparison doesn't totally work, but I get it. An older star comes back and wins the belt on the company's first PPV. At this point, AJ winning almost guarantees he has to drop the belt to Elgin since Elgin is the one 'rivalry' they've tried building with AJ. Plus it would make all the sense in the world and would make him a far bigger deal with casual/mainstream fans if Elgin beat AJ for it than if he beat Adam Cole.

Yeah. That makes sense. I like Cole in the ring but his personality is really lacking.

Why doesn't RoH let him do that?

Probably because they don't want him saying "suck my dick" on TV.
