We've got some Draft action this Thursday. Cleveland gets the 1st and 4th pick in a fairly week draft. They're expected to turn those picks into Irving and some European guy at PF.
The T-Wolves are projected to ::GASPS:: not draft a PG and go for Derrick Williams.
The Pistons are expected to draft a guy at the 2 spot. Because all of that fucking money tied up in Ben Gordon and Rip Hamilton wasn't enough.
Also, what do you think the CBA will bring about?

The mock draft I saw had him going to Utah and Cleveland taking Jan Vesely.

The Cavs are a really interesting team if there's a season. These picks will give them two productive guys and they still have a year of Davis and Jamison to help them along. I think with some decent free agent moves that Cleveland could turn themselves into a 7th or 8th seed in the playoffs.

Also, pretty much the entire Miami bench will be headed to free agency. I expect Big Z to consider retirement. It will be interesting to see what kind of moves they make, especially with the new cap going into place.

If they play, I think Miami is going to move Bosh for someone with a spine.
My Celtics are kinda in limbo. sadly.... they'll probably win 50-55 games and not go deep in the playoffs... and unless the new rules change things alot, there's not much they can do.

I think the positive for the Celtics is that Jeff Green showed a little life in the postseason. I think they should trade Ray Allen and just tank the team. The current configuration won't win a ring and will win too many games to restock via free agency.
The Pistons will thankfully shed T-Mac and a lot of players over the next couple of years. I wish Dumars hadn't lost about 100 IQ points over the last 3 years. This team needs to build around Monroe and Stuckey. Not bring in guys like T-Mac. Hopefully Jerebko comes back and isn't totally hampered by his injury.

They won't tank the team.... for one, the fans wouldn't tolerate it, too many bad memories.
The other think is that Ainge and Rivers think they can still win, they're not even considering blowing things up.
The big talk around here is more about starting Jeff Green and bringing Allen off the bench... and, to a lesser extent, wether or not they'll re-sign Big Baby Davis.
The problem is unless they convince Jermaine O'Neal to retire (thus freeing up his cap space) they have no way to do anything signifigant without trading Rondo or Green.

I will never understand why anyone after the Pacers gave O'Neal the kinds of contracts he gets. Single most overrated center of the last 20 years.

I agree.. I was furious when they signed him. New news today.... Peter Forsberg is reporting the Hawks are interesting in Allen and/or Garnett to clear cap space for wooing Dwight Howard... they're talking Josh Smith for Allen of Smith and Hinrich for Garnett. I think the C's were considering a run at Howard as well... but I'd like this MUCH better. Smith is like Garnett 10 years ago skill-wise, and playing on the C's might get him some heart. And he played with Rondo in high school... the highlight dunk alley oops between those two might be worth it alone

You'll never win a ring with Howard. He's too mentally weak. You beat on him a little bit and he'll settle for jumpers instead of driving to the hoop. But he's gone though. Look at that Magic roster. They're Knicksesque in how many bad contracts they have going on.
I think Smith would be great. Rebuild the Celtics with the same image with younger versions of the guys you had. That would get you back to a championship sooner rather than later.

I would LOVE Smith and Hinrich for Garnett... then they can move West or Hinrich for a back up center somewhere and they're good to go.
Don't see why Atlanta would do it, though.
I agree about Howard, btw... he's not a winner...he's like Chamberlain... all he wants is fans to cheer him and to get good stats.

I want to bring up a point that I made to my friend about D-Howard.
All this talk about whether or not Howard will leave Orlando or not. Let him leave. And don't give him a max contract. He's not worth it. They could spend that money elsewhere.
One thing Howard is missing is that he can not put a team on his shoulders and win. In just my life time, I think about the centers that could put a team on their shoulders and win. Hakeem Olajuwon(sp?), David Robinson, Shaq and Patrick Ewing are the only 4. Howard is not in that class. He is very, very good. But not elite. So let him leave if thats what he wants.
