I liked his feud with Trent Acid a lot at the time but that was about 75% Trent Acid is an entertaining asshole.

I never really saw a ton of Trent, but I didn't think he was really all that great. He fit perfectly in that early 2000s indie scene, though.
Side note: There's 11 days to the show and we're only like five pages off from having as many pages for this as the WrestleMania thread had and this show hasn't even happened yet...not that we're even talking about this show!

Xavier was awful. AJ Styles was dragging good shit out of everyone at the time and even he couldn't get something worthwhile out of him.
I think reasoning was put out there at some point but I've long since forgotten it. He wasn't super over or anything. I'm guessing he thought the pretty boy routine would make fans pay to see him lose.

I'd have to go back and rewatch but was there something about Daniels not being allowed to challenge? Xavier was part of his stable, so it'd make sense if he stepped in to beat Ki for the title because Daniels couldn't.

I don't remember but that sounds familiar. Honor Invades Boston is a show I've never been able to get a copy of so there's that small gap I have.

Just looked it up. They had The Prophecy help Xavier win the title. Daniels wasn't banned from facing Ki or anything.

That's lame then. Going into that show he:
beat Scoot Andrews beat Little Guido lost to Little Guido in a triple threat match lost to Amazing Red in the World Title tournament lost to Scoot Andrews beat Scoot Andrews beat Low Ki to win the World Title in a 25 minute match!!!
Seriously WTF? That's really not build up to winning the World Title.

And he beat Low Ki to win the belt. That's ridiculous.
I think the first like, two or so years of ROH really show how bad Gabe could get with his booking like with the Special K/Carnage Crew "we date raped Tony DeVito's daughter" angle.

Gabe really lucked into the Samoa Joe reign. I've never cared much for Gabe as a booker. I think he gets too much credit for shit the talent did. I tend to think the Summer of Punk was as much Punk as anything Gabe did. The RoH vs. CZW thing I got tired of but I know people really loved that.

ROH/CZW, much like Summer of Punk and the Joe reign, was dropped in Gabe's lap. Anything that he created himself (AOTF) turned to shit quickly.

Age of the Fall still pisses me off. I loved the concept of the group but he would fucking job them the second they started to get momentum.

I think Low Ki and Amazing Red did a better match for TNA than the one that had the crazy start in RoH. The RoH one they kind of punched themselves out early and struggled to an end.
I remember really liking the Prophecy against Bryan Danielson and Michael Modest for the tag titles. Daniels and Morgan losing their shit and trashing the trophies was hilarious.
Man remember those vanilla midgets Chad Collyer and Matt Stryker. It was a crime against humanity when they made them wrestle each other.
I'm looking over the rest of the year and nothing jumps out at me as being awesome. I don't remember thinking those Punk/Cabana matches were great or anything.

Man, do I want to live through those bad Raven/Punk matches again? I probably will.

Paul London did have the line of all time in a backstage segment where he just awkwardly blurts out "I break ankles."

London vs. (I think) Michael Shane in a street fight is one of the most beloved ROH matches ever.
